“Good stay at Comfort Inn Gettysburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

I have stayed at a number of Choice Hotels and I usually find that the Comfort Inn chain is most consistent. The Comfort Inn Gettysburg on York Road met all my expectations. While the hotel is not particularly close to the historic areas, Gettysburg is small enough so that all the attractions are within a short drive. In addition, the trolley shuttle stops near the hotel and will take you downtown or to the battlefield. We got a good rate for being slightly further out ($71/night plus tax with the AAA discount) and you get a lot for the money. The room itself was rather large and included a refrigerator and microwave in addition to the usual amenities. The layout of the room suggests that it is an older property which has been renovated (a very small bathroom with a sink and vanity in the main room is more typical of older hotels). However, everything was clean and well maintained. There is a small but clean indoor pool and hot tub. The included breakfast is standard for Choice Hotels (which is fine but not great) and the breakfast area was bigger than others I’ve seen. All in all, the Comfort Inn Gettysburg is a very good mid-priced option.

Thank you for your nice review. We appreciated the comments about the hotel being reasonably priced and clean. We try to keep our rates as reasonable as possible. We do have the added amenities such as microwaves, refrigerators, in room safes, hair dryers, 42 inch flat screen televisions and in room coffee makers with irons and ironing boards. Though we are located on the outskirts of town we are within minutes of all attractions. The local bus trolley does stop in front of the property and it is free. This transports our guests around to all Gettysburg attractions in case they don't want to drive. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We were proud to go for our group of wrestlers that made it to Regionals but come to find had a horrible experience staying here. We had great reviews from past years of the couples staying here and went there again. We had staff being rude yelling and threatening families and following them into their rooms yelling the first night. Again the second night one of us helped the staff with a fire and had wonderful comments from her on how nice we all were but of course at exactly 10 pm were told they had complaints of noise so we all went to one room to chat. This was of course after a family with 3 little ones were made to exit the hotel for illegitamant reasons. Seeing those little ones crying their hearts out took me to tears. They were 2 1/2 hours away how could you be so rude. Later when our dinner was served I asked the staff if they were getting anymore complaints because we went to one room to be quiet and she apologized saying the person who complained was old and she was so sorry to have to come up to us. Our last day when we got our receipt we were double charged and when my husband asked the lady at the desk about it she said it is what it is I don't have time to check it out so I then went down and she said oh it was fixed you just weren't given the corrected receipt. We then left and proceeded to shop and found out one person was charged for all five rooms and found out others were being charged multiple times for their room. Took over a week to get corrected and had staff say oh if you come back next year we will accommodate you tremendously. Don't think so.

Thank you for your review. Everybody has their side of the story and you were part of the wrestling group, that threatened other guests ,so you are no longer allowed at the hotel. The staff did not say anything bad to you it was a member of your party that caused the police to be called.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. In our room our toilet did not flush and the water ran all night. The tub didn't work so the little ones could not take a bath; they had to shower. The rack in the bathroom was broken hanging off the wall. There was pieces of the hot tub falling off. There was a rusty nail in the hot tub that the children almost stepped on and when they took it to the front counter the desk clerk was rude to them. The staff there was not polite at all. The first night they argued and fought with us and got up in our faces. Then the second night we were there we weren't even there for more than 20 minutes again and the staff was at it with us again. The cops did end up being called and one gentleman was asked to leave. He did leave and said nothing afterwards. The rest of us on the other hand stayed. The last day when we were getting ready to leave none of our bills were right. One family got charged for all the rooms. Another was charged for an extra night. Nothing was right and when we called to talk to a manager to get it fixed she was no where to be found. Days after we left we were still getting charges for bogus stuff that we shouldn't have been charged for. It has been more than a week now and we are still trying to get stuff figured out. All in all it was a terrible experience and I would NOT recommend staying there.

Gettysburg is a beautiful town and a great place to take the family. There is so much to see and do that is all family oriented. I was on business for this trip but will absolutely bring my family back in July. The hotel was great and had a wonderful location approximately 1 mile from the round about in down town Gettysburg. The hotel was very clean has an indoor pool and hot tub. There are many restaurants and stores right at the hotel. The downtown and battle field are only 5 minutes down the road. There is a Perkins in the parking lot.

Thank you for the nice review. We are very close to all attractions and if you do not feel like driving we do have a free shuttle that stops in front of the hotel every hour. Our staff is very knowlegable on the battlefield and tourist attractions. The battlefield is less than five minutes from the hotel. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

My experience was a good one, aside from a very rowdy wrestling group. Prices are very reasonable, the hotel was clean, there is free WIFI, the food selection during breakfast was generous, and the staff I encountered were all nice. My only complaint is that there was a disruptive group being quite loud and making threats after their children were running through the halls at 10pm and knocking on the doors of the rest of us trying to sleep. When confronted to quiet down, there was one gentlemen in particular in that group who threatened to shut you up if you didn't return to your room and turn your tv up to drawn out the noise of their children. He yelled at staff when they came up to tell them to quiet down and return to their rooms as well. Given the threats, I was told that cops were called and the gentlemen was escorted from the premises. His group seemed to leave afterward as well. Despite this disruption, I would stay here again because from what I had seen the staff did everything to diffuse the situation and keep the guests safe. It isn't often that I encounter a situation like that, but I prefer to know that staff will act accordingly to ensure the safety of their guests whenever something like that does happen.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the pool and lobby generally tend to be quieter. Ask ahead if any groups are staying...

Thank you for your response. Sorry the wrestling group was out of control. Every once in a while you get one group that thinks they can do what they want. Unfortunately the police were called when it appeared nothing we were doing could help. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We had been traveling for a week and half, staying at the less expensive hotels along the way. This was inexpensive for the area, so thought it might be of the same non-quality. The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was better than the normal continental. Did not have time to book online ahead of time, so was glad to have the local coupon book which saved $40 on the night from the price quoted when walking in the door.
