I was so excited to get a room in bed and breakfast dating back to civil war era. Was there for reenactment, so wanted the experience of setting. When I called for reservation, they asked if any special diets for breakfasts. I informed them that there was a vegetarian and a no red meat. I was so stoked, thinking that my meal would be special made. Well, first meal, all 3 plates have bacon on them. Two plates were taken back to kitchen. They literally took the bacon off, and sent plates back out to table. Every meal after that, the meal was the same as regular diet minus any meat. So, less food. I would have thought turkey bacon, tofu, or double of something else would be offered, but no. The first night in our room was unbearably hot, no one slept well. Bathroom was way too small. Very small, short stool. 2 travelers are over 6 feet, third has bad knee, not pretty. The water for shower and sinks literally took approx 4-5 minutes to get hot, very hard to regulate. The grounds were nice, but they failed to inform you that they are catering weddings often, 2 in the 4 days we were there. The weddings really limited guests to the grounds, and receptions noisy, ruined quiet nights outside.
The only positive experience was getting to shoot a musket at morning history lesson, and meeting Christy. Christy saved our last day by putting us into a larger room with better facilities, making sure we had two fans to be comfortable, and doing whatever she could to make us happy. ( was
not made aware when making
reservations of different room sizes)
