“Stay away from Drummer Boy Campground!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2008

Gettysburg, PA is a great place to visit, but DON'T stay at the Drummer Boy Campground! Although it is the highest rated cg in the area, go somewhere else! We were treated rudely, our reservation was fouled up (with no apology or extra help offered to correct the problem), and they held onto our credit card # longer than they were supposed to! Find another spot to stay, anywhere but here!

We Have been going here for 6 years and used to love it.
But in 2007 they changed alot of rules, like a $250. desposit
on the cottage we rented and didn't tell us till we got there.
arm bands for swimming( not a big deal just a pain) the snack
bar closing early and trying to find someone to get us toilet paper was hard because they keep it locked up. The biggest thing that upset us was that you would think after 6 years of going there they would send you stuff in the mail to come back
but they don't. Sorry Drummerboy we are going elsewere.

Had been going there every Memorial day weekend for 6 years. My wife and I and about 30 other friends and family. We got there wednesday this year and had to listen to heavy machinery for the first 3 days.New owners doubled the price. They refuse AAA discount for good and Good Sams for the holiday weekend. The pool was not open and the water slide opened for a day.The men's room was dirty all weekend. The sites weren't cleaned good and the grass around the sites was not cut. It's a shame, all though we all booked for next year, we are all looking for some other place to meet in the future. We'll all just have to eat the $25 cancelation fee. It's no longer worth the 3 1/2 hour drive from the Jersey Shore.

This used to be a great campground but now that it is owned by a California corporation the quest for the almighty dollar has taken over. Over Memorial Day weekend, the front pool never opened, the water slide at the back pool was not always working. Restrooms were not properly stocked (paper towels, soap). Although Good Sam and AAA are accepted; discounts are not given over holiday weekends. I booked for Memorial Day of 2009 - the price was a bit over 100% of what I had paid for this year. When I cancelled my reservation the next day, I was charged a $25 service fee. I will not be going back.....

Drummer Boy camping resort is a Beautiful, spacious, scenic, clean..extremely clean, fun campground for a family or anyone interested in camping. We arrived July 1st and left July 4th. This was the first time ever camping in Gettysburg. Check in/out was fast, and easy. There were always about 6 girls working the desk, helping everyone that came in or on the phone. The campground is huge, and because of the holiday time there were a lot of people, but it never once felt crowded or too busy. From the pictures i was worried because i saw a lot of gravel, but most sites all had a nice grassy area. We were at site 194 and it was great. There was a huge grassy area between us and the site next to us on the right, and to the left was blocked with trees so the ppl next to us did not bother us one bit. The bathrooms were a bit far we thought, and expecially with a potty training toddler it was a hike to get her there fast enough. But we got on our bikes, pedaled about 10 strokes and rode down hill the rest of the way. The campground is hilly, but not where you can't ride your bike up and down. Very little effort is needed, and I had a childs bike trailer on my bike. The bathrooms are fabulous. VERY CLEAN..i think even cleaner than my own! Large. Never had to wait to use a shower stall. My husband was speaking to a grounds keeper and he told my husband that they like to be in the bathrooms about every 2 hours to check up on the cleanliness. There are 2 beautiful pools. Very clean. Very large. The one has a water slide. Though we didn't utilize it (there is a small fee) lots of kids seemed to be enjoying it. The kiddy pool had a soft duck that the kids can climb on and the duck shoots water out of it's mouth. Lots of kids were having fun with that. One pool has a mushroom waterfall that kids enjoy. There were a few playgrounds thruout the resort. mini-golf, for a fee. And for as many ppl at the resort the mini-golf was never too busy, which suprised me.
The laundry room near us was not usable. All the washers were not working. Not sure if they hadn't hooked them up yet, or what so there was only one other laundry room i could find. It took 2 hours to wash and dry 1 load of laundry! Why, I don't know, that was the only thing that I found discouraging. It was 41 minutes for the washer and 50 minutes for the drier. I made nice conversation with other ladies doing their wash, while my husband and baby took a nap, so it was ok.
They have a mini-theater, where i saw them playing movies on a 25" i think, tv screen.
Overall I would recommend this campground to EVERYONE. This will be the ONLY place we ever camp at while we are in Gettysburg, and we go at least once a year. It was a 5 minute car ride into town. Next time we go, when it isn't such a busy time of year, we will actually ride our bikes into town, it's so easy to get to.
I actually look forward to going camping again there. There was nothing wrong, in our opinion about this place.
