“Wonderful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

Booked this last minute, but knowing what the AAA rate would be. After a full day at the National Military Park, it was a nice clean upscale hotel to come to and for the kids to take a plunge into the heated (decent, nothing wow) pool. Rooms are well, roomy, and clean - don't expect any views. Check-in staff and in general everyone was friendly. There was no incidental charges added to our AAA rate - just the usual taxes that all aspects of govt try to get from tourists. Dinner was at Garibaldi's which shares the complex with the Wyndham and Courtyard Marriott and theatres. Wyndham had a great movie and dinner deal for 4 if families are interested - worth it - we didn't use that since we already had pizza for lunch and were too tired to hit a movie. Overall, nice comfortable place to crash for families.

Room Tip: Get a room closer to elevators if you have kids - floor design is strange that way.

My husband and I stayed at the Wyndham in Gettysburg for our 5 year wedding anniversary. Upon check in the staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the rooms with a king sized bed. I loved how the decor was patriotic. Our room was very clean. We ate at the 1863 Restuarant. We started off with some drinks from the bar. I had the Gettysburg Passion and my husband had the Stonewall. They were fantastic. For dinner I had the chicken saltimbocca and my husband had the prime rib. The portion sizes were very large and we were very happy with the food...definitely worth the price!!! Our server was very nice and our food came out very fast! We were also tipped off that we could get discounted movie tickets for the theater next door at the front desk. There is so much to do in Gettysburg. We spent the day riding bikes through the battlefield and tasting wine in 3 of the wineries downtown. We will definitely go back to the Wyndham....it was the best way to we could've celebrated our anniversary!!

first time stay at wyndham Gettysburg. Only stayed one night, but highly recommend. We had non-smoking room with king bed, and room was great, clean, and comfortable. Bathroom was large. Hotel also had a resturant and lounge, and two other resturants and a movie complex within walking distance. parking very convient and large lots.

Travelers beware. After driving a few hours in bumper to bumper the last thing I am going to do is read posted signs on Incidental fees ! The staff should verbalized this also! Now I need to call my bank to release them? Unsatisfactory !!! The staff are more like paper viroids at the desk. Rooms should have fridges not good for folks traveling with kids! Pass this place and stay at courtyard across the way. Seriously. Also clean the pool'

The property is a pretentious new hotel well distanced from the Gettysburg Battlefield. It looks like somebody's idea of a Grand Palace set in a huge shopping mall. In the mood for a more upscale place than our usual Gettysburg accommodation - and one that accepts pets - we searched the various hotel booking sites and found the Wyndham at about $100.00 per night with 'pet fees'. When we arrived we were mortified to find that they had NO RECORD OF OUR RESERVATION. The manager, Cindy Ching, said that she could not be of much help. The lowest rate that she could offer us was $150.00 + Pet Fees & Taxes. I said that I was most dis-satisfied - and would complain to the highest authorities - TRIPADVISOR being one of those. She was unmoved and would not budge from this price (even though it seemed that the property was severely under-booked). Stay away from their pretension and inefficiency.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I was sorry to read about your impressions of the property. Had you decided to actually stay at the hotel, I believe you would have found your experience to be a positive one. Todays technology allows travelers countless options to book a hotel reservation. With the number of options available and more consumers choosing to make their own arrangements, the chances of an error in not completing a reservation or booking at a hotel other than the one you had intended, increases. The fact that the room rate you said you confirmed does not match, and was not close, to that of our hotel suggests that the reservation was for another facility. As you did not have anything confirming the reservation, the manager offered you a discounted rate and apology for the inconvenience. I am sorry that you found this to be unsatisfactory.

the staff at this hotel was excellent. Everyone I encountered during my stay was most helpful and possessed a great attitude. They have a nice breakfast as well. conveniently located in to the battlefield.

My family stayed here for two nights for a weekend of sightseeing. We chose this hotel based on the other great reviews for accommodations and the pool, and we were not disappointed at all. The rooms were very well appointed with nice decor and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was different from what I am used to with an oversize shower in place of a tub/shower, but it actually worked very well for our family. My kids (6,3) both thought it was a lot of fun to take a shower instead of a bath too.
The pool lived up to the hype. It is big, compared to most hotel pools and that allowed the atmosphere to never really feel crowded. The hot tub jets weren't working during our stay, so it was more like a big bathtub.
My only wish regarding our stay would be the breakfast buffet didn’t take such a hit on the wallet. It was $15 for adults and $10 for kids. The food was delicious and the service unmatched by the staff on site, but the bill for four adults and two kids shouldn't cost $80 for breakfast. Needless to say we went to Perkins the following morning.
Overall a great stay and I would recommend the Wyndham for a trip to Gettysburg.
