“Excellent stay- great staff and superb guest rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

This is our second trip to Gettysbury PA in as many years and both time we stayed at the |Marriott. Both times were great. The staff was quite accomodating, they allowed us to park our motorcycles under their covered area near the front door. This was really appreciated especially when it poured one evening last year. This year, we went to Gettysburg during Bike Week so there were thousands of bikes in town, and dozens at the hotel. So we parked in the lot and in the covered area.
The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable. The bathrooms were spotless and there were always plenty of towels and amenities. One of the best King beds I have been in ! Slept like a baby- The pool area was adequate and the location was fine..just a few minutes to the downtown square (circle) and the museum and all of the wonderful sites in Gettysburg. There is not much in the way of restaurants nearby.

The one thing I would have liked is to have a rate including breakfast, we chose to eat elsewhere, but that does not detract from this wonderful hotel.

Stayed with family for 2 nights in June to tour Gettysburg. Did quite a lot of debating on where to stay and I have to say I was very pleased with my selection. Nice, clean, quiet, enjoyable stay. Staff was helpful and courteous. No problems whatsoever! Maybe a little removed from tourist area, but well worth the short drive.

We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is new and clean. The rooms are quiet. I had read that it was out of the way, but it's really not. I live in a rural area so we are used to driving 15 minutes to get to a grocery store. This is nothing like that. It's very close to restaurants and shopping and 5 mins. or less to the center of Gettysburg. If you want to walk out of your hotel and walk to the shops in Gettysburg, this is not a good location for you. However, with the amount of traffic and noise that I saw around the center of town, it was nice to be able to return to a hotel where there wasn't a lot of outside noise. I was disappointed that our room wasn't ready when we checked in. We had a long day of driving with three children. However the staff did there best to get us into rooms that were ready. The pool is a little small, especially since the hotel was almost booked when we stayed. It was a popular place for kids in the evening hours and seemed crowded. The spa was out of order one of the two days that we were there. They gym was nice. We traveled with my parents and they really enjoyed the hotel.

Let me first say that I typically stay in either Courtyards, HGI's or Hampton Inn's when travelling. I also will use Tripadvisor for an idea of where to stay. Really glad I chose the Gettysburg Courtyard per the reviews on TripAdvisor as well as Marriott's 20% discounted rate deal. People have commented that it's not close to the Visitor's Center...If 15 minutes or under isn't close, I don't know what is. The rooms were nice, the front desk friendly, and a very good selection for breakfast... Some Courtyard's don't have this wide selection... It's $9.95 / person for full buffet, but you probably know that... If you want to go cheaper, things like McD's are down the street. The only reason I knocked it is because the pool was a tad on the cold side and the whirlpool wasn't working, and was really looking forward to it after seeing the Visitor's Center (Cyclorama, Film & Museum) in the morning, and taking a Gettysburg Bus Tour in the afternoon. - If you're going to do both, I recommend getting a "Value" ticket. It'll save you some money, check the main "Gettysburg Foundation" website out for information. The night we arrived we took the Sleepy Hollow Seminary Ridge Tour, which we thought worth it & the day we left we toured the Eisenhower Farm, and walked around the Soldier's Cemetery.

After trying to find a hotel forever in Gettysburg I finally found a great hotel! Even though it was a trip for siteseeing the room was set up more for a business traveler. None the less the room was really comfy! Digital thermometer for the air and was working great. When we called down for towels it did take a while though. The front desk was very helpful with helping us get around town. Room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good for some other hotel breakfasts we have had in the past. They also had an omlet bar! T.v.s might need some updating though, was off to the side instead in front of the bed.

We hadn't stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott before and didn't know what to expect. But we liked it a lot. We travel quite a bit and have mostly stayed at Embassy Suites or Hampton Inns because there are five of us and we need the suites to accommodate three children. But this beat those by a large margin. Nice comfortable beds. Nice hotel and staff. Breakfast isn't included like some others but it was good the one day we tried it. The pullout bed was actually a pullout chair but it worked for a 6' 14-year-old. The only downside was the location which is a bit out of town if you're there to visit the battlefield. They're on opposite sides of town. That made it a 15-20 minute trip on a busy July visit. Not insurmountable by any measure but not as convenient as some others. Having said that, we'd definitely stay there again. The plusses outweigh any location inconvenience.

The first thing we did in Gettysburg was get lost. The hotel clerk knew exactly where we were when we called and gave us perfect directions to the hotel. We checked in 3 hours early and swam in the pool/whirlpool to wash off the trip and get on with "Gettysburg". We set the room temp to 69 and left. Town is only a short drive away and the new Gettysburg Welcome center is 5 minutes from the Hotel. My older son forgeot his swim suit and the hotel housekeeping is mailing it back today. After seeing all the other hotels and their locations I would stay at this hotel again----------
