“Great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

This hotel is a great location for the History geek in your family. 10 minutes to Gettysburg Visitor Center. Free trolley service by "Freedom Transit" picks you every hour in front of Hotel and takes you to local stores (Walmart, Giant, and downtown Gettysburg...) Tax Free Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg are a must for the shoppers in your family. Gettysburg Family Restaurant on York street was very good place to have lunch. Luke's American Grille on Chambersburg Street is a great breakfast stop; excellent fresh donuts. Back to the Hotel, great indoor pool and jacuzzi area. Room was clean, quiet and well stocked. No free breakfast here, but reasonable prices for basic breakfast items in the Hotel lobby. Check out Gettysburg Visitor Guide for a 50% off coupon. Hotel across the street from Gettysburg Theater. Overall our family stay here was comfortable and we'd stay here again.

Nice hotel and room was comfortable. Price was not too bad for the area and time of year. Front desk staff could have been a little friendlier but maybe they were having a bad day.

Room Tip: We were on second floor but room was very quiet and comfortable.

As others have posted, this hotel is located about a five-minute drive from downtown historical Gettysburg and about 10 minutes from the battlefield visitor center. I usually prefer to stay within walking distance of downtown, but we got a $65 deal via Priceline on a busy Friday night.

There are two restaurants across the hotel parking lot (Italian and American), plus a large movie theater complex which is handy for a night out. We didn't use the hotel pool, fitness center, business center or breakfast service.

The rooms are well-appointed, although you have to request a small fridge, which is a hassle. There are about 70 TV channels on the flat-screen TV that pulls out and swivels to be viewed from all positions in the room. Plenty of closet space, drawers, and electrical outlets. A desk area and a sofa. Shampoo, conditioner and body lotion in the large bathroom. Plenty of towels and pillows. The tub had a seating shelf with handicapped bars. Didn't use Wifi. Big bright sunny windows and good blackout curtains. Everything was very clean. There is a Wal-Mart close by, as well as a strip mall with a CVS.

The drawback was noise. I could hear the conversations from a room next to me, and in the morning at 7am a very loud mechanical noise started up. We were on the second floor overlooking the back parking lot and what may have been mechanical systems. This noise turned on and off the rest of the morning; occasionally it would be accompanied by a vibration, like helicopter blades. A light sleeper, I travel with a white noise machine and this hotel noise was much louder. It woke me up. The noise is the reason I scored this hotel only average.

The staff were all very friendly and efficient. When I thought I'd lost my eyeglasses, I asked them to search and they called my home later that day to report they had not found them. Very appreciated!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor if you are a light sleeper. Perhaps the rooms facing the hotel front are quieter...

Out of the hustle and bustle, but, location aside, this is a wonderful property.
Well maintained, super duper common areas.
I only stay on short-notice business trips, but would like to take a family time there.

This hotel looks beautiful from the outside and the lobby is very pretty and inviting; however, the actual rooms are just ok, nothing spectacular. My room didn't even have a real closet, and was kind of small. Overall the room was very clean, but the desk chair was stained in two places and looked dirty. Rooms have free internet which is nice. No room service, and while there is breakfast available the cost is $10. I would probably look to stay somewhere else next time.

This hotel is probably the best Courtyard I've ever stayed at. I've spent 1300 nights in Marriott properties, this is a big endorsement. The lobby is beautiful. Indoor pool was fun for my 8 year old. Convenient to get around albeit Gettysburg is a small town. The front desk was very helpful. Housekeeping forgot to leave bedding for the fold out couch. My wife called down at 9PM and they had it to us in 5 minutes. I'll stay here again.
