“What a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

This is a delightful find right in the middle of town, a restored home that was literally in the middle of the battle, with the Confederates on one side of it and the Union soldiers on the other side. I don't believe it's open year-round, but hopefully that will change. It's display areas are very well laid out, clearly labelled and educational as well as entertaining. This is extremely family friendly, with lots of "open this" and "look inside here" interactive spots, and it gives the visitor a terrific insight into what a house in Gettysburg at the time of the Civil War might have been like. I highly recommend visiting it!

“Wonderful Gem”

Be sure to stop here. Beautiful home filled with interesting history of the battle. There is no charge which is unbelievable. Photography is allowed as well as being able to touch many of the artifacts.

“free, a donation box is available”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

This museum is open on the weekends. You should watch the movie first. There are quite a few items on display that you can handle. One interesting item is an assortment of items a soldier in the civil war would carry...gun, ammo, personal kit, etc. You can try to lift all these items to see how heavy they are. I could not lift it. Baltimore Street is very interesting and has a variety of shops and eating places. The museum is worth a visit if you have the time.

“Neat museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

It was a small museum but had a lot of really cool pieces in it. They have a gun and some sacks that you can lift off a stand to get an idea of what the soldiers had to carry. Let me tell you, it was heavy!! It didn't take very long to poke around but it didn't cost anything to enter. There were a lot of facts labeled on items in draws and cabinets, it was a nice little museum. Kids would probably enjoy it because they are able to touch everything in it.

“Bullet Holes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Another interesting story to go with this house. It is a little eerie to see all the filled in bullet holes on the side of the building. This house plays a big part in the Jennie Wade story, which I am not going to give away!
