Fantastic food and accommodations. Very courteous staff. Some "minor" paranormal experiences.... fun and informative.

I am amazed something like this is in gettysburg. the incredible food, outstanding winelist. i've never seen a wine list with 800 selections from all over the world. the two person jacuzzi was great and the fireplace had a romantic touch. Great time spent with my wife. Looking forward for another stay in the future.

My partner and I just returned from a 2 night stay at the Herr Tavern. The purpose of our trip was to combine a romantic getaway with some sightseeing. We were not disappointed. The Herr Tavern exceeded our expectations. Our room was pretty, cozy, and sparkling clean. We appreciated the fine linens, comfortable bed, historical American decor, and wonderful bath with a jacuzzi and nice toiletries. The friendly staff couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. The fireplaces in the bar and in our room were welcome spots for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast was tasty, imaginative, and filling. There is ample parking and a warm welcome waiting at the Herr Tavern. We highly recommend this property and would go back in a heartbeat.

  • Liked — Beautiful rooms
  • Disliked — The only improvement that could be made (and this is minor) is that the coffee served at breakfast was a little weak and lacked flavor. But everything else was wonderful!

We were visiting Gettysburg with friends to see the new National Park visitor's center and choose Herr's Tavern for primarily for location and historical associations. It was a terrific bonus that their "fine dining" restaurant is great and the rooms that we and our
friends booked (#14 and #15) were very nice. We have stayed in numerous bed and breakfasts and found our room to be a great combination of new and romantic. The
waiting sparkling wine,
cheese and fruit was a very appreciated touch.

We stayed at the Herr Tavern Bed and Breakfast for two nights October 24-26. We arrived Friday evening and were greeted by the manager on duty who showed us where we would be eating breakfast and took us to our room. We stayed in room 14 with a ground floor entrance. The room was beautiful, it was very large and clean. There was a bottle of sparkling wine awaiting us as well as a fruit and cheese platter. The room had a wonderful gas fireplace and large whirlpool tub. We ate breakfast at the inn and we were pleasantly surprised. Saturday night it was raining, so we decided to eat at the livery on the property. The steak and vegtables were wonderful and the staff was very attentive. The only problem that we had all weekend was the noise from a staircase right outside of our room. Someone was up and down the steps several times both mornings around 6:30. Overall it was a wonderful trip and very relaxing. I would highly recommend the Herr Tavern.

We stayed at the Tavern as an overnight getaway. Overall, the stay was wonderful. Our weekend rate of $189++ included a guest room with a queen size bed, whirlpool bath, fireplace, patio and breakfast for two. We had eaten dinner here for Valentine's Day two years ago, and returned primarily for the restaurant. We were not disappointed. Dinner was wonderful from appetizer to dessert. Breakfast the following morning offered broad continental fare with an entree of an Eggs Benedict variation. Management left champagne and a small fruit and cheese plate in our guest room, a nice touch. We did try to have drinks at the bar prior to dinner, but the service seemed a bit swamped. After waiting twenty minutes, we decided to return to our room. The only other issue was that we were directed to get ice from the connecting bar, which was closed at the time. The gentlemen in the kitchen were happy to get us ice though. The outstanding food far outweighs such slight problems with service- particularly since the staff did strive so hard to please. We were happy with our stay and will certainly return to both the hotel and restaurant. This is a good choice for a couple visiting Gettysburg. (The guest rooms do not allow children under 12.)
