Owner description: See the ENTIRE battlefield at one time and watch the troop movements for ALL three days of battle. The battlefield covers 6,000 acres, an area large enough to be difficult to visualize. The Gettysburg Diorama will put the battle into perspective when you see the ENTIRE battlefield as it appeared in 1863. Carefully researched and meticulously assembled, the Diorama contains over 20,000 hand-painted soldiers, horses, cannons and buildings. Picture the battle through the eyes of Generals Meade and Lee as a narrative unfolds in miniature with a light and sound effects experience you won't forget.

“I Need Visuals”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2015 NEW

We visited Gettysburg in Oct. 2014 after staying in Colonial Williamsburg for several days. We love history and looked forward to visiting the battlefields. We took a bus tour, drove through on our own, went to the Visitor's Center and so on, but this diorama really gave us a visual of how things went down and how the town and surrounding area had to deal with the devastation. The narration and sound effects along with the detailed topography made this a moving and educating experience. After seeing this presentation, I felt I had a much greater understanding of the enormity of the losses on both sides and how the town and surrounding area were affected by the devastation. Well worth a visit!

“Understand the Battle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2015

I remember going to this as a child, when I returned many many years later, I thought it was great place to start because you saw the whole battlefield and where things where in relationship to each other and the battle was explained. Ii was excellent.

“Great overview of the battlefield”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2015

It is so hard to put all the significant parts of the 3 day battle together as one overall event. The old light board did a good job of it but this display was much more informative because of the landmarks, the models, the lights. If you are a first time visitor this is a good start along with the film at the Visitor's Center. If you are a civil war buff you will appreciate seeing the entire field all at once and enjoy looking at the soldiers, horses, wagons, houses, and even the fence posts reproduced here. The other items on display are interesting too. This would be especially good for kids.

Amazing recreation, but we were rushed out and feel like I needed more time to take in all the images.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the Diorama. Sorry if you seemed rushed. We give at least 5 min before and after the show to look around, longer if there's no one for the next show. You might have come in right before we need to start the program. Very sorry.
