“Good intro for the uninitiated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

A non-US citizen I am still learning about the Civil War. The Visitor center is a good way of getting to know this more in depth.
The 20 min movie was good and informative. The Cyclorama seemed dated and off-target in comparison. We ended up going after 10 min and went to the museum instead. The museum has many nice exhibits and is divided up over the three days and the aftermath. I would have wished for more on the aftermath and why the battle was so decisive and important for an understanding of the Civil War.

“Film, Cyclorama & Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

Going to Rememberance Day in Gettysburg is a remarkable experience. With all the festivities, parades, shopping, eating, enjoying history, ceremonies, dedications, so much. This year we added the new visitor center. It is absolutely a wonderful experience. Very easy to read, look and reflect. Cyclorama was good, although I remember the old one, and I think that old building was better to see the painting. Don't get me wrong, it is a MUST to see! Very moving. Loved every aspect of this experience. I had my twin 6 yr old grandchildren and they also enjoyed the history of this aspect of our countrys history.

“A museum should be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

It's a lot larger than the old center, but does not really have that much in it to apperciate. The newer building and mgt. has decided to tell the whole story of the civil war, but that detracts from the main purpose of being there; the battle of Gettysburg. Don't get me wrong, they do go into it about two thirds through the museum, but really don't get that involved in exhibits and artifacts. The oled museum was more through on the battle. I've spoken to many that have been to both and almost to a man; the older building wins hands down. The only real great improvement is what they have done with the cyclorama painting. It's a great display and well worth the visit.

“don't miss the cyclorama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

They have restored the cyclorama painting. The exhibit starts with a short film and they opens up to the painting. Don't miss this. There is also a gift shop that sells the auto tour and you can get tickets to visit the Eisenhower farm all great things to do.

“World class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is an extraordinary experience and all Americans should visit Gettysburg. The movie is emotional, but nothing is as special as the Cyclorama. If you have never seen it since it was moved to its new "home" and after its restoration, make another trip.
