“What a nice place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

This is a great place to stay with friends. Get the Lieutenant's Lodge and bring some friends. 2 comfy beds, HUGE bathroom and a front porch to seat and enjoy the clean air. Convenient kitchenette, plates and fridge. Hotel breakfast is nothing to look fwd to, just coffee, bagels and pastries. Short drive to all the attractions. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Worth your money.

Room Tip: Get gome groceries and drinks before you get there.

We reserved a Lieutenant's Lodge, and were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a Presidential Lodge when we arrived. I don't know about the condition of what we reserved, but the presidential lodge was SO nice - the one they call MA (Massachusetts). It was just what we needed for a family of 4. Check in was easy and quick. The lodge was very large.

The MA lodge had two bedrooms, the first with vaulted ceilings, a Queen bed, sofa, dresser, three small tables, electric heater (they say fireplace, but it wasn't really...though it was pretty), and a TV. The other bedroom was a little smaller, but had a dresser and a smaller table with drawers and two bed side tables. The bedrooms were connected by a walk through kitchen with a refrigerator, small sink, dishes (breakable for those with kids...wish I'd have brought some of my plastic stuff), microwave, small refrigerator, and a table with two stools. We brought some food and snacks, knowing that they just had a microwave, and actually spent a lot less eating out than we expected because it was so nice to eat in. The only place that delivers is Papa John's, and there's not too much closeby, so I recommend bringing some food.

It was a little chilly, but the temps were in the teens, so I knew to bring some warm PJs. It actually warmed up by the middle of the night and was too warm, so I think it was mostly because no one had used it during the week.

There were plenty of extra pillows, blankets, and towels. The towels are huge (very nice touch).

The room was SO clean. I am always concerned because I have two little ones that play on the floor, but this place was cleaner than my own house. We tracked in some snow near the door, which was cleaned up when we got back after the first afternoon out.

It is located just about equal distance between Liberty Mountain Resort and Gettysburg...about 10 minutes to either place. It does overlook the battlefields and has a beautiful view. Though I couldn't pick out the battlefield at first from the lodges, I could see the lodges from the battlefield when we drove through, then I knew where to look.

We didn't eat breakfast there, so I can't comment on that, but they had fresh fruit out for the morning when we went in the evening. We took them up on an offer of a glass of wine and the kids some juice shortly after check in. The set up of the restaurant isn't really kid friendly, and they are making some space for a bar, which seems to be more appropriate for the high tables and stools that are currently in the breakfast room. But it was great, and they even dug us out some local wine, which we always look for when we are away.

Oh, and finally, they have a maintenance man who seems to do it all on the property. There was another guest who was trying to check in, but kept sliding on the ice nearby, and we let them know that he needed help...and the maintenance man went down the street to help. That was great. They couldn't be more accommodating.

Very nice place, very nice people. Probably our go-to place when we visit the area again (hopefully very soon!)

Room Tip: Lodges along the bottom row have great views, not sure about the others. Those with young kids, bri...

This Resort is situated on top of one the highest hills between Ski Liberty and Gettysurg, Pa. I over looks in the distance the Eisenhower Farm. We visited in the winter and found the cabins very quaint. They provide Continental Breakfast. Each cabin had a kitchenette with mini frige and microwave. Being a cabin it had beautiful wooden floors and few carpets. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful setting.

My husband choose the lodges of Gettyburg to celebrate our first wedding annivesary. The lodge was BEAUTIFUL & we enjoyed walking around the grounds. There is a gorgeous pond in front of the lodges that the sun reflects off of so beautifully. We stayed in the "Georgia" & it had an extra bedroom plus a great kitchen which we weren't even expecting. The price was very reasonable for what was included. The lodges are a little distant from town which makes it nice for a romantic setting. This is definitely the nicest place we've ever stayed & we can't wait to revisit next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Georgia which was amazing!

These are definitely more like luxury cabins than rustic cabins and no one should be disappointed! We rented two North Lodge cabins for our recent ski trip to Liberty. We got takeout food and had a wonderful après ski night. The beds are comfortable, the showers are hot, and the two bedroom layout is perfect for privacy yet cozy. The kitchenette was nice to have. We will have to go back when it gets a little warmer. The drive out to Gettysburg in the dark is a bit difficult so having GPS helps. Y es, the cabins are close together but still plenty of privacy. They hold weddings there and others events. Did not check out the spa services, but they are available as well. This is a step u p from any nearby hotel, it does not pretend to be a luxury lodge or resort, but they do a very nice job and I was pleasantly surprised. It is about a 15 minute drive from Liberty.

We are so please to hear you loved our beautiful spot in Gettysburg! Your review was fantastic and we appreciated the time you took to write one for us on Trip Advisor. And you are correct, the cabins are much more luxurious that one would think with the phrase "cabin" and we love to hear that our visitors enjoyed their stay with us! Thanks for the great tips to other guests too!

My husband and I stayed here with our adult son right after Christmas. Our cabin, Mississippi, was at the top of the hill with wonderful views of the snow-covered fields, and we were greeted by two deer. Our "lieutenant's quarters" was nicely laid out -- a great room with electric fireplace, kitchenette, and sofa bed; a separate bedroom with two comfortable queen-sized beds; and a spacious bath. The cabin had a small front porch and a back deck, which are no doubt lovely in warmer weather, as are the surrounding trails on the spacious property; I wish they had spread the cabins a little further apart. The place was immaculate and quite new; we felt the decor was a bit stark. Thoughtful touches included a magnifying mirror in the bath and nice toiletries. Great suite-style lodgings for family groups are hard to find, and this place would be a terrific choice for any family group. Note that we got a better rate from the Lodges website than was available at the standard travel sites.

Our stay at the Lodges at Gettysburg in October of 2012 was a memory for the ages. It would be a disservice to call them "cabins," but the stone, period appropriate accommodations, were perfect with an enormous living area, fireplace, full separate kitchen and a five star bathroom nestled above rolling hills, a small lake and fields. Could not have felt more Gettysburgh and comfortable.

The staff were delightful, veteran, very knowledgeable about the area and the history. We were treated the way "I" want to be treated when I travel. Attention to detail in service both at the front desk and in housekeeping was a delight. Only ten minutes from the historic town and less to the battlefields. If you're looking for some gorgeous scenery, quiet and lot's of history, this is the "only" place to stay in Gettysburg in my opinion. Robert and Joni give it two thumbs up!

Room Tip: Get a cabin on the hill above the lodge, best views. We stayed in the New York. Huge.
