“A museum with personality.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

This museum has items of interest for everyone not just those interested in the Civil War. The rooms are snapshots of periods in US, world history and pop culture. Too much to take in during one visit. The owner was pleasant and open to questions. A must visit while in town.

“VERY INTERESTING PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Recently visited the museum and found what a lot of other people had experienced. The place has a lot of very interesting items from the Civil War to John F. Kennedy. The place reminds me of old museums I visited back in the 60's where there were cases and cases of items with all kinds of items with small print or written descriptions. I would not make this one of the first places to go when in Gettysburg but if there is time, do go by. You will amazed with all the things that are in the place.

“Really interesting museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

This museum had really cool artifacts in it. It wasn't just about the civil war, but had lots of other neat stuff. I really liked the binoculars from Abe Lincoln! The best part about this place was that it was free. I would go back the next time I'm in Gettysburg.

“Look, but don't buy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

In a follow up to a previous review I wrote, I'd like to caution others. The proprietor has a fine display of artifacts, but I discovered that he also purchases many Civil War items off EBay (and collectors know how unreliable that can be). He will NOT offer you a Certificate of Authenticity for any artifact you may buy; in fact, he got angry that I should ask, after the fact. My simple point is: after 150 years, the provenance has been lost (or easily rearranged) on many artifacts. This is true of many sellers. If purchasing a piece of history at the Gettysburg Museum of History, do not expect that you are buying an actual artifact from the Battle of Gettysburg; simply be certain that you are up on your Civil War artifacts and be satisfied that you are buying a piece of Civil War history. It's a great collection, but you are probably NOT buying something that Erik's relatives picked up after the fighting on this hallowed ground. You may be holding a piece that he purchased on EBay; or someone sold to him on hearsay.

This review is completely slanderous . We actually have the best reputation for honesty and authenticity anywhere. We do not purchase “many Civil War items off eBay” as you stated. We have the most well documented artifacts in the business period. We offer museum documentation for everything purchased from us. This is better than a standard “COA”. We never buy items we sell or exhibit on “hearsay”. We take to time to authenticate everything through tireless research, documentation , and forensic analysis. This review is simply not true. When you buy from us you buy from the best.

“Don’t miss this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

We ventured in not expecting much but were impressed with all this museum had to offer. Not only vintage Civil War artifacts, this little place went on and on with surprise after surprise. I am not going to tell all, I am going to say everyone who visits Gettysburg should stop in and see. You will not be disappointed.
