“Remembering the fallen soldiers of the Civil War”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

The National Cemetery...So solemn and breathtaking. We go every Nov. for Rememberance Day and never get tired of it. The ceremonies are heart felt. "Our" soldiers are MA. & CT. We go to that part of the cemetery and repeat the names of the fallen who never got back to New England. We put flags on the graves. You can hear the various regiments from all over having their ceremonies with fife & drum. Moving.

“hallowed ground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is what it's all about. There are 3500 men buried here that took part in the battle and Lincoln gave his address here. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear him speaking; honoring the men buried there. It's a solemn place, but beautiful. No visit is complete without a stop here to reflect on what they did there.

“Most solemn place I've ever visited.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I have often heard the term "solemn ground" when describing Gettysburg, and visiting the Soldiers cemetery when bring full meaning to the term. If you understand Gettysburg you will be totally moved emotionally as you walk the grounds and see the enormity of the sacrifice of so many. Seeing their names on the graves brings it to a new level.

“A must see! Especially after seeing the Battle of Gettysburg reenactment.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Never before had I seen a reenactment and was astounded to see history come alive. Then to visit the National Cemetery and listen to the guide tell of the story of lives of the men buried there and the history of the town and the townspeople involvement. It was so very touching. You come away overwhelmed with emotions , and realize there is much yet to learn!

“Interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

I was there the day before the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Just imagine what it would have been like back then.
