I am a Choice Privilege member and have been for years. I like the brand and rewards program. On this stay we chose Comfort Suites Gettysburg. As soon as we walked in the lobby we were surprised. There was a board that greeted me as an elite gold member... something that had never happened before and on top of that Barbara, the Manager on duty gave me a gift bag with bottles of water, energy bars, area map, list of things to do and other helpful information. She took very good care of us answering all our questions and during the length of our stay no matter how busy, she was took the time to greet us and ask about our day. In my long experience with this hotel chain it is unique.
The room is tasteful with very nice amenities such as large fridge, microwave, flatscreen TV. The bed was very comfortable with both soft and firm pillow selections right there on the bed. Just another example of the attention to detail that the staff of this facility takes in the way guests are treated. Additionally, you can save $5.00 per day on the room if you do not use housekeeping.
The free morning breakfast bar is quite good even by the Quality brand standards with both large waffles and a separate unit that makes between one and four smaller ones. Coffee, tea and yogurt are available around the clock and the local paper is always available free at the desk. Another nice innovation is the small snack bar in the lobby. You can purchase frozen microwavable individual pizzas and pizza bread, soda, candy, chips, etc. So if you want a snack and don't want to go out you have options.
There is an indoor pool for year round use as well as a conference center. The lobby is large warm and welcoming with a fireplace and big screen TV along with comfortable seating should you choose to linger during your stay or just take a break. They also provide a public computer for the use of the guests. There is a waterfall and fish pond that separates it from the breakfast area and the sound is very soothing. Michelle and entire staff are helpful, friendly and professional. Having said that, I still feel the need to single out Barbara as exceptional.
Down the hill and across the parking lot is The Pike restaurant. Excellent food, daily specials, reasonable prices. The property itself is on the back side of Cemetery Hill right next to the Evergreen Cemetery and less then a mile from the new park visitor center. You have many choices when it comes to accommodations in Gettysburg. My wife and I have just found what we believe to be the best value in town in a perfect location. We are already planning our next trip. Give them a try and see for yourself!
