“Nice, clean and quiet.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2011

This hotel is well-located and has good amenities. Nothing fancy but a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Make sure you leave by 11 am or they will call you and ask you to leave! LOL. Thought that was fun...

Details not attended to. When light went out in shower, they put a table lamp in the bath. When they finally fixed the bulb, they never cleaned the ceiling fixture. Also we counted dozens of bulbs out in the breakfast area, pool, etc. Not very professional. But, they had a half dozen people cleaning a 6 foot fountain one day. Maybe some should have come inside and worked on the light bulbs. Upon check out be sure to check your bill. They sneak in a $2.71 per day charge for the room safe whether you use it or not. Must be I was the only one to refuse to pay it because it took 10 min. and a phone call by the desk clerk to figure out how to give me credit on my cc. There wasn't any restroom or changing area in the pool, but they had signs that the floor would be slippery when wet. Well, if your could change into regular clothes before exiting the pool they wouldn't be wet!.

I stayed at this hotel recently while traveling with family to Gettysburg. On the surface this hotel certainly seems nice enough. It features large rooms that are clean and comfortable.

The main problem I experienced at this hotel has nothing to do with cleanliness or comfort, but rather the location of the hotel itself. The Comfort Suites is steps away from the battlefield, and I think the hotel had to be built on what was part of the battlefield cemetary.

If you stay at one of the rooms on the back of the hotel, if the windows open (I'm not sure if they did or not) you could practically reach out and touch one of the tombstones. This was just a bit too close for comfort.

While I did find the location of this establishmnet a bit odd, not to mention spooky I did maintain an open mind. I never expected to happen to me what did that night while I was sleeping.

Some of the rather strange things that happened were the tv that would just suddenly turn off, and in the middle of the night my cell phone kept ringing. Needless to say there was no one there and no messages that were left.

I really did not give these strange occurrences much thought, it wasn't until the next day while talking with my sister and she also said the tv in her room would suddenly turn off.

Other than that my stay here was actually fine. I would love to know if other travelers have stayed at this particular Comfort Suites and experienced anything a bit of the ordinary, just out of curiosity.

If you like a hotel on top of a cemetary, you will love the Comfort Inn Suites in Gettysburg, just beware...

Stayed one night in a 2 Queen suite (Room 210) as part of a tour. The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the national cemetery – the gravestones were surprisingly close to the window.

VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND FAULT with the room or hotel. It was excellent value for money.

We liked:
1. Hotel is new – had a nice light /airy reception area with plenty of free local maps and tourist info
2. Room/Bathroom was spotlessly clean and very quiet.
3. Very Comfortable beds
4. Complimentary toiletries in the Bathroom
5. Good facilities in the room, all in working order – including a safe, fridge, microwave and free WiFi.
6. Plenty of free parking
7. Complimentary breakfast from 6:30 AM - a little basic, but it is free
8. Perfect location for touring the battlefield - the visitor centre was virtually next door

We disliked:
1. Check in and out was a little slow – only one lady serving and she had to man the phones as well as guests. To be fair she was very helpful and pleasant but in my view could have done with some assistance.

Would I stay here again or recommend the hotel to a friend? DEFINATELY YES. . . . and for more than one night next time.

I stayed at the Comfort Suites with family and it was an outstanding hotel. The continental breakfast was great. Also, it was in a perfect location-- walking distance from the national park visitor's center and also charming downtown Gettysburg. The service was extremely good; the price was sensational. Overall, the Comfort Suites is an outstanding hotel.

We stayed for 1 night in August as part of a road trip.
Beds were comfortable, room was clean, A/C worked well ... no issues. Breakfast was a bit weak, I avoided the eggs based on other reviewers and they did look pretty unappetizing. Still, good enough to get you started.
I would stay again if in the area.

Minor problems with phone lines and safe. They may have been caused by internet usage. Problems were corrected in a timely fashion. Services were good and the staff was courteous and helpful.

Room Tip: We occupied 2 rooms. One with 2 queen beds and one suite. A suite can hold up to seven people,but...
