“Anniversary trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We were hesitant to stay at a bed and breakfast because of a previous experience in another state. Alexandra and George made us feel right at home from the time we arrived until the day we left! They were so easy to talk to that we felt like we were staying with family! The place was very inviting and clean and the food was delicious! They gave us lots of info about local places to visit and eat. They even made us a cake, card and sang to us for our anniversary. We have and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone visiting Gettysburg!

This is the second time we've been to the Raphael Inn and as always, we get the best in care. Alexandra and George are the best host and help out in everyway possible. And when Alexandra and George aren't around, Hedi and Olive made sure we were entertained :) Certainly will not be our last visit!

For anyone who seeks a Bed & Breakfast that’s authentic and personal look no further. Gettysburg has many wonderful sights to offer it’s tourists, but the charm from this city is found in this lovely Inn run by the proprietors Alexandra and George. You arrive as strangers and leave as a friends. After traveling throughout Europe we always enjoyed the charming B &B’s, it allows you to live and learn about the local culture, people and location allowing a truly wonderful experience, we did not know that we would find a gem like this at the Raphael Inn. They are tops! We were so fortunate to have our reservation for 5 nights in the California Suite; a big spacious uniquely decorated room where we, a family of three adults were so comfortable. Out hosts created delicious breakfasts everyday that were a feast to the eyes as well as the palate. We had excellent advise on places to tour, eat, and visit during our stay. These recommendations were right on and we enjoyed all our daily outings. The Inn is immaculate and has so much charm. We all slept so well and awoke looking forward to delightful breakfasts and chatting with the fellow guests. The environment give guests a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know people from all around the world. We looked forward to meeting each new guest as they arrived. Both Alex and George are fantastic hosts and so interesting to spend some time conversing with. They make it so easy to have a pleasant time, we really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend staying there. Thank you Alexandra, George, Heidi & Olive!! We found a treasure and will keep you in our hearts! Beverly,Al and Kristine

Room Tip: We were able to see all rooms and each was unique and worthy of a good nights sleep!

My husband and I were in need of a quiet, non commercialized, good old fashioned customer service oriented escape from every day life and worries. The host(s) were as kind and as genuine as possible; the food was EXCELLENT!, and the room was comfortable. My husband owns his own service company,( a consumers award winning company!) so we feel like we have a good idea about customer service. If you are looking for an affordable, nice place to escape, this is it. We will definitely be going back. Thanks for an enjoyable weekend Alexandra and George!

Room Tip: The California Rose Suite is spacious & very comfortable!

We were blessed by your visit with us as well and grateful that you had a chance to get some much needed 'rest' while staying with us here. We enjoyed the many conversations and learning about your recent successes as # One in the 'Pest Control' world. While you don't live that far away you still brought your world to us here and we learned many things about you from our talks. We are glad you enjoyed your breakfasts and that you got what you needed for your
'get away' while here. We trust you are back to your family activities and your busy schedule and we look forward to seeing you back again when you can get away for a time to refresh, regroup and relax...... Have a great summer! Fondly, Alexandra and George Escalera

My husband and I stayed at this inn and are very confused by the other reviews. George and Alexandra were nice and the inn is located downtown on a very busy small street, but we are very confused by the other reviews and were very disappointed. The inn is very small, cluttered and claustrophobic, most of the rooms face the busy small street and of the 3 guest rooms are very close to one another, we could hear any noises from the other rooms. We stayed in the Evangeline room. It was very small, very purple, very cluttered and the air conditioner wasn't working. It was an odd eccentric inn that was to cluttered to feel comfortable. We ate breakfast in their "Paris cafe" although we are not sure why it was called that. Breakfast was also disappointing so we left completely confused and mislead by the other reviews and we will do a lot more research when choosing our next bed and breakfast to visit.

Our guests love to write reviews about the Raphael Inn Bed and Breakfast. All of our rooms have air conditioning units in them that you control to your comfort level and all are in perfect order. Everything is working. We have one room that is off the street the California-Rose Suite it's our largest room taking up the whole front of the Inn. The Evangeline room and Abraham Lincoln are in the back and formerly reviewed as very quiet. The Raphael Inn is known world wide for our dogs Heidi the Wonder Dog and Olive the Small Wonder. Our Inn is also known for it's many themes and beautiful colors in our guest rooms and common rooms as seen on our website. We are a small and personal 'old fashioned' Inn with just 3 rooms and with Innkeepers George and Alexandra living on the premises.
The Paris Cafe story, Raphael Inn story and many others we share gladly with our guests when here. While we're not perfect humans, we do our best not to disappoint our guests on any level. If informed of a concern or need we tend to it with out hesitation.
In this competitive industry the Raphael Inn is humbled and grateful to be # 1 in the collection of Bed and Breakfast Inns in Gettysburg, Pa; and give credit to our wonderful guests from all over the world. Sadly as listed in this review in all our records we have NO record of this guest..........

Looked at reviews for B&Bs in Gettysburg and liked the reviews for the Raphael Inn. We were not disappointed!! Alexandra and George were fabulous hosts. Their kindness and personal touch were wonderful; they made our stay exceptionally memorable! They made us a special dessert and a personalized card for our anniversary. The breakfasts were second to none; the other guests raved about the food as well. The accommodations were wonderful; we stayed in the Abraham Lincoln Room and it was delightful, especially the back porch. Heidi, The Wonder Dog & Olive, The Small Wonder, were special parts of our stay!! We certainly will stay at the Raphael Inn when we return to Gettysburg or are just passing through.

What a wonderful place to stay! This was our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I were on a special 25th wedding anniversary trip and hadn't been on a vacation in many years. Our room (the Lincoln room), was immaculate and beautifully decorated with a lovely view of the gardens. The entire place was beautifully decorated and spotless. George and Alexandra went far above and beyond on a daily basis to make our stay very special and memorable. The breakfasts and evening desserts were amazing! They truly have the gift of hospitality. The atmosphere is so warm, friendly and inviting. And I can't forget Heidi the wonder dog and little Olive, the small wonder. They were delightful. We just got home yesterday and my husband and I are already talking about our next visit. We absolutely love this place!!!!
