Having found the Gaslight Inn on the Internet, we stayed there during July 2012. Our first trip to the Gettysburg area, our college-aged daughter joined us. Just by observation Gaslight Inn is truly the best place to stay. Upon arrival we immediately absorbed a warm environment - inviting, beautiful landscape, relaxing, large porch, knowledgeable staff, great meals and food presentation, special attention to guests' needs, extra clean, home-like, spacious, excellent connections with area attractions, and even wonderful morning programs right at the Inn with Civil War experts. A couple of weeks prior to our arrival, our daughter was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Still getting used to her new way of life, I inquired as to menu content before our arrival. We were absolutely amazed that her meals were altered to coincide with a low-carb diet. Upon our return after a long day in Gettysburg during our four-day stay at the Inn, we noticed next to the day's homemade cookies in the dining room was a special container off to the side with my daughter's name on it that contained homemade low-carb cookies with a label with ingredient/carb information. It was a special surprise that basically made all three of us feeling taken care of. Our room was plenty large enough with a nice deck overlooking a beautiful flower garden. Our spacious bathroom sparkled. All of the furniture looked new. We decided at the last minute to get a private tour of the battlefields vs a bus tour only to find out at the tourist center that the private tours were booked. No worries. Upon my phone call to the Gaslight Inn, I had a private tour scheduled to start within the hour. The Inn is within walking distance to the Square, lovely shops, and restaurants. We were so impressed with every aspect of the Inn. Their business concept has been thought out very well - total quality customer service. So very highly recommended!
Room Tip: We stayed in the Astor room, which was on the third floor, with a deck, overlooking a beautiful back...
