“Spectacular!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We also purchased our getaway on LivingSocial and were completely blown away by the hotel and it's staff. We stayed in the James Troxell Suite, and it was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and full of amenities we really weren't expecting. The fresh muffins, cakes and fruits for breakast were delicious, and the fruit, cheese and chocolate plate upon arriving hit the spot after our time exploring. Our stay was too short, so we will be returning. If you go to Gettysburg, try and stay at the James Gettys Hotel. It's right in the middle of everything, and not that far from the Gettysburg National Military Park and Visitor's Center. You are able to immerse yourself in history, while surrounding yourself with the luxury that is the James Gettys Hotel. We can't wait until our next visit!!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, even if your visit was too short. There is so much in Gettysburg to see and do, I think you're right that you will need more time to explore everything! I hope you will visit us again soon!

Sincerely,
Catriona

We purchased our getaway for The James Gettys Hotel through LivingSocial and weren't quite sure what to expect....Well, not only was this hotel top notch so was the staff. The room we stayed in was super clean and everything we could ask for. The homemade breads, muffins and fresh juice daily was such a nice treat. This was our first getaway without children in ten years and it was wonderful. We will return.

My wife and I had been thinking about a close, weekend getaway we could do for a couple of weeks when I got an email from Living Social advertising the James Getty Hotel. I looked up the location, local activities and restaurants and decided to go for it.

Our experience from start to finish was outstanding. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL and the staff of the hotel were very friendly and always willing to help out. The location was also outstanding, we were able to walk to breakfast/lunch/dinner everyday and the historic sites of Gettysburg were a very short drive up the street.

We had a fantastic weekend. I highly recommend James Gettys Hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was the "Livery" suite on the 3rd floor. Other than being able to hear some of th...

We've been staying here off and on since 1997, and we've never been disappointed. It's an old building, totally redone in the mid-90s. Most or all of the rooms are spacious two room suites and they are very comfortable. Big living room/kitchen with a nice cold breakfast provided each day.

It's a block off the main square of town, nicely removed from the honky tonk a little further south but still within a five minute drive of the battlefield.

Private parking in back, which is nice -- on street parking in Gettysburg is a little tough.

Immaculately clean and very nice rooms.

Oh, we will be back.
First time at JGH. They knew it was our anniversary--flowers, chocolates, champagne in the room waiting. The hotel was as clean as my house, and that is a huge compliment :)
Pleasant, accomodating, ideal location, charming, staff SO friendly.
I hope we make this an annual celebration.

My husband and I needed a long weekend getaway, and even though we live about an hour away from G-Burg, we love to go there! Got a really great deal on a 2-night stay, but had no idea what to expect. I must say we were blown away! The room (Sign of the Buck Suite) was fantastic, the service great (even from the puppy-Char!), and the location ideal. I felt like the rooms were very high quality (loved the ceiling heater in the bathroom!) We especially loved that they brought your breakfast to your room the night before. After too many experiences of having to fight for your breakfast against tribes of people, this was a welcome change. We didn't mind finishing our sight-seeing early so we could get back to the room and just enjoy it and relax! I would go back for the room alone. Stay here, and see what I'm talking about!! P.S. loved that you could walk down to the Pub on the square. Very convenient & great food.

Room Tip: Sign of the Buck Suite has you sleeping right above a major route in G-Burg. If you are used to traf...

My boyfriend and I just spent a few days in the Blue Parrot Tearoom Suite. The hotel was so comfortable and the staff was super nice. Gettysburg can be a little empty in winter, but it was kind of nice to not fight crowds everywhere (although we did have a problem with some restaurants/shops not being open). The hotel is very centrally located in downtown Gettysburg and was a great base for exploring! The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The breakfast breads and muffins were delicious!
