“Mamie Loves Pink!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Do not miss this historic site when visiting Gettysburg. It's like Ike and Mamie just stepped out for a moment. Every bit of kitch decorating is still in tact right down to the pink fuzzy toilet seat covers, ubiquitous ashtrays, and slipcovers. The park rangers provide excellent back ground on the Eisenhowers' life in Gettysburg. While I was a little leary of the self-guided tour format, it proved to be fine. The booklet was detailed and the grounds have a cell phone tour. Special highlights are the secret service office, the den, and Eisenhower's paintings. And, don't overlook Mamie's touch everywhere. You get a real sense of the first lady.

One note - even though this site is run by the National Park Service, your Park Pass does not gain you free entry.

“I like Ike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The NPS has done a very good job in preserving the site. And, as usual, the Ranger guides do an excellent job of interpreting. A very good side trip when you are visiting the Gettysburg Battlefield. Too bad that you have to pay a high price for a 10 minute bus ride from the Gettysburg visitor enter to the farm ... because there is no parking at the farm.

“The only home Eisenhower ever owned”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

The tour of the Eisenhower farm and home was very interesting. It only takes an hour and a half, and goes quickly. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The home is just as Ike left it. Lots of family photos and classic Americana from the 1950's. The old TVs, furniture and cars really took me back. The setting is beautiful in the rolling hills of south central Pennsylvania. I suspect that most people these days don't know very much about our 34th president and this tour is quite informative.

“A simpler time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Great tour. A guide named OB met the shuttle bus, and spent about 20 minutes answering our questions and helping us understand what life was like for Ike and Mamie on the farm. You can stay at the farm until the last bus goes back at the end of the day, but you can do it in an hour. Take a minute to walk the grounds and see the property that Ike was so proud of he entertained the heads of state with tours of the farm.

“Interesting but not essential”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Very much a 50s style house on the inside, the tour is fine, lots of historical information, but this is not an essential part of your Gettysburg visit.
