“Clean, Classy & Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2006

We checked in on Oct. 14th and got there at 11:30 a.m., too early for check-in but the girl behind the counter said we don't have a room clean yet but why don't we get all your information into the computer and we will rush to get a room ready. We ended up going shopping at got back to the hotel around 2 p.m., the room was ready and the keys hanging there waiting for us.
The room surpassed my expectations - it was roomy, clean and the most comfortable bedding I have ever found in a hotel. It almost seemed like a brand new hotel.
We only stayed one night but would not hesitate to stay or recommend this hotel to anyone else.
They have 24 hr coffee set-up downstairs in the lobby which was great to have at hand when you wanted it.

  • Liked — Room was very comfortable and spotless
  • Disliked — The sink & shower being in one place - I like the sink outside of bathroom

We stayed here twice and the rooms were always nice, especially the king suite with the fireplace. Very nice to have the fireplace on a chilly october evening. The hotel is not close enough to the attractions for walking distance though. You'll need to drive to the Farnsworth house for dinner, to the battlefields and museums and such.

I have stayed at the Hampton Inn 3 times since New Years. I am doing some day hiking on the Appalachian Trail and needed a place fairly close by.

For $62/night (King Suite) you can't beat it. Breakfast is included...it was always kept fresh...more than the basic continental (muffins, bagels, donuts, danish, plus eggs, sometimes sausage, etc.).

The room was always clean, the staff helpful. I will not hesitate to stay there while I day hike through PA AT.

The Ruby Tuesday's across the street was also surprisingly good...much better than the ones that are around here.

The hotel is located a bit outside of the downtown...but it is just a short drive and you don't have to deal with parking congestion, etc.

Stayed here for rememberance day weekend.
We had booked a suite, as it was my birthday, and we were going to be involved in the festivities in town, and wanted some quality evenings. When we arrived at the hotel with confirmation in hand, we were given an ordinary room. it was dirty, the sheets smelled and the bathroom had mold in it. They informed me that i had only booked this type of room..even though i had the confirmation to show them. they then said there were no other rooms available and when we complained about the rooms cleanliness they did absolutely nothing. In the morning I asked the maid to change all of the bedding. she did accomodate, but was unhappy to do it. Garbage cans went unemptied. I have stayed at less hotels in Gettysburg and had better service and a much cleaner room. As a travel agent I will certainly remember to NOT book this hotel again for anyone

Our family is a fan of Hampton Inn and this hotel did not prove it differently. We stayed in the king size jacuzzi suite with fireplace. The room was excellent. It was spacy and cozy. We would definitely return to this hotel. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves and enjoyed that as well.

We were there when the hotel was completely booked for the weekend. There was a soccer team there from out of state whose players and parents were under the impression that rules do not apply to them. Management allowed small children to over take over the hot tub. Even when they did get out one of them announced they had just peed in it. Parents of this team were permitted to have alcohol in both glasses and open containers in the common areas. The parents did not have control over their children and the management did not have control over the parents. We were contacted by someone from the hotel regarding our complaint and instead of an apology; they were defensive and said they could not watch that many people. Apparently, I am falsely under the impression that it is their job to enforce the policies of the hotel. Also, we left our Entertainment Book behind and called to retrieve it the same day. I was told by management that no one turned it in. Some advice if you want to stay here; call ahead and see if there are any groups booked that may prevent you from using the amenities you will be paying for, and do not leave anything behind. Sounds like "lost and found" is more like "take what you want."

Hotel assistant manager was very helpful- booked a king room 1 night and could not get same room (on internet booking) for next night. He showed us a smoking room to see if it would be adequate and also informed us that floor would be best as they had a baseball team spending the weekend on another floor. We appreciated his interest in our peace/quiet! He also noticed right away that 2 pillows were not in the armoire and called housekeeping to bring them up- they were in the room before we got upstairs. Continental breakfast was more than adequate! French toast sticks/sausage and all the regular (oatmeal, cereal, muffins, bagels, doughnuts, fresh fruit, etc.) first morning; second morning was biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs, and all the regular items. Pool is a little small for a hotel of that size. We waited until later in evening to use, when most of the small children were out. Also took manager's advice on using the guide from the NPS for Gettysburg for $40 and it was well worth the money. Could ask any questions you want- more personalized tour. Was glad this hotel was not right in the middle of town- preferred to be away from all the noise! Would definitely stay again.
