“Great little secret”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

While looking for an inexpensive hotel to spend a night in the hotel, I came across the Latham. I was surprised, having been past the beautiful exterior many times. Having spent the night there, I'm still surprised it was so affordable.

The room, though not exceptionally large, was impeccable. In fact, the whole hotel was pretty, and felt expensive. The part of the hotel that really showed well was the service. Everyone we met, including the doorman and the front desk were extremely helpful, kind to my young children, and welcoming. After checking in and getting their advice on what to do for the evening, I was disappointed that I couldn't stay longer.

In general, the Latham is a smaller, boutique-style hotel. It's richly appointed, and has the feel of a much more expensive hotel. The hotel is located on the corner of 17th and Walnut which is just a couple minutes' walk from Rittenhouse Square, and puts it in close proximity to great shopping and restaurants. It also has a wine bar, though I did not have a chance to visit it.

Fantastic hotel! The staff was great, very helpful with all of our questions and needs. The wife and I took a little getaway to the city without the baby and the hotel was perfect. I was amazed how quiet it was for being right in the heart of Philly. We had a great view and the room was larger than I was expecting for a downtown hotel.

Dear Bret,

Thank you for choosing The Latham Hotel on your recent visit to Philadelphia! I'm am glad to here your weekend getaway went off without a hitch! Part of our recent renovations was ensuring that all of our guestrooms had the best possible sound proofing from outside noise being that we are a Center City property. Come see us again whether it be a weekend getaway or to take in an event at the many attractions close in proximity to our central location in Rittenhouse Square.

Yours in Hospitality,

Mike Roberts

I could tell you about the fantastic valet service, the warm front desk agents, the speedy room service, the amazing views, the charm and class, or even the luxurious beds, but instead I will just tell you to stop reading reviews and book your stay right now.

Oh...did you know they have a driver in an Audi A8 to drive you wherever you need to go in the city? Yeah...they have a driver in an Audi A8. Included with your stay. Seriously, book this hotel already.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the church...breathtaking.

I recently had to venture to Philly due to eye cancer and had care at the Wills Eye Institute. Obviously not a trip for pleasure but the hotel staff, made this unfortunate situation incredibly better. The Front staff was great, friendly, cheerful and incredibly helpful, thank you to Roshanda and Allison for always having a smile to greet us and offer assistance. The bell man Brandon was great as well and made us feel like we were friends for years with his hospitality and friendly banter every day. The chauffer drivers Roman and Parker were equally great, very personable, sympathetic and caring. They all had great recommendations for dining and entertainment. They have earned a customer for life each time I need to go back to Philly for sure!!

Room Tip: Be friendly and they will reciprocate..

We stayed in the Latham for one night. The room was quiet, comfortable, and well appointed. Our view was dismal, but we didn't expect a great view. We didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment on that. Free valet parking was very efficient. Lots of restaurants around, a good location. We went to the Barnes Foundation the next day, very convenient for that.

This is a great hotel in a good location close to restaurants and within easy walking distance of all the attractions that Philly has to offer.

Stayed here with my wife and toddler for a week while vacationing in Philly and was made to feel very welcome from the outset. The rooms are well fitted out with all that you would expect along with a fridge and cable TV plus free WIFI.

The bar and restaurant within the hotel is also very good and worth a visit.
