“Great boutique hotel completes Philly experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Only stayed here for 2 nights, but it was a comfortable weekend stay. The neighborhood is great. Really nice to walk around, stores like juicy, coach, and places to window shop. Close to downtown activities. The area is great. food and everything is nearby. Different from other cities like NYC, Philly is an older city. The activities you may want to do may be spread out and will most likely need a taxi or public transportation. But don't stay in the outskirts. Really clean, modern, and updated the Latham I would visit again. Keurig machine in each room, but forgot cream. Also be advised... This hotel has various room sizes under the same category. Ask for a room with a bay window it's larger. I got a room under a group rate and my 2 double bed rooms was the smallest out of other guests. Kinda tight for 4 people. But otherwise alright.

Renovated boutique hotel in best part of town. Moderately priced. Very good value. Short walk to dozens of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was FANTASTIC. Recommend the Urban Breakfast. Rooms were smallish, but very comfortable. Bathrooms are basic but immaculate. Staff were super helpful and very polite. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Upper floors have less street noise, otherwise rooms are pretty much all the same.

Do NOT waste your time or money staying at this hotel. First of all, the staff is so nasty and snobby it is embarrassing. They are rude and gave the most expensive recommendations where I have since learned "they get free services" there. Really not helpful. If you need anything it is an inconvenience to them and they do NOT know or care to know the area. As for the rooms , they were clean I will give them that but very small with very uncomfortable beds. Also, the heat blew cold air in November?? This was not specific to us ,apparently it happened to a few others as well and of course we had to ask three times for a blanket. We have traveled a great deal and stayed everywhere from great boutique hotels to the ritz carlton but this place was awful one very level. We could not wait to leave...

We stayed here last week 19th October 2012 and it is truly a boutique hotel! Beautiful bedding, decor and the bathroom is to die for.

The staff were wonderful especially Stacey, and the young doorman was extremely helpful in finding us somewhere to eat in the evening. I would recommend the Dandelion pub for a great meal and quirky surround!ings

All in all our stay in Philly was made all the better for staying in this great hotel.

The Latham, like most of Philly’s buildings, is deceptively small. The lobby almost seems abrupt as you walk in; most of us are used to the grand lobbies preferred by most hotels now. Do not let this fool you, however; what the Latham lacks in size is makes up for in class and style. Who says bigger is better?
The Guestrooms are excellent and elegantly designed with a modern twist on classic taste. I found my room, again small, but very comfortable. I was concerned about possible street noise being located in downtown Philly, but these concerns were unfounded. I had no trouble sleeping and heard no undo traffic noise.
The location of the Latham is also superb. It is at the center of many shops, restaurants, and cafes so there is no shortage of options to occupy your time. It is, however, a bit of a walk to the historical sites such as independence hall, so a cab ride may be preferable. It is also located near Rittenhouse square, a great place to stroll or dine.
All of this would make the Latham an excellent fit for business or personal travel, but the Latham’s crowning attribute was its staff. From the doormen to the concierge, the staff was exceptional. All were extremely friendly, and offered tips and suggestions for everything from dining to sights to shortcuts. In the end it was a vibrant staff to go along with a vibrant hotel in an even more vibrant city. I would certainly recommend the Latham to anyone travelling to Philadelphia looking for a hotel downtown.

Room Tip: The staff have excellent restuarant recommendations

I was part of a wedding party and stayed here for 2 nights. The first night was with the bride in her suite and everyone was extremely accommodating to all of our requests that night and the day of the wedding. We were asking a lot and they were extremely nice every time we had asked for something! Not only that but we decided to stay very last minute (12:30am the night of the wedding). They were able to offer us a nice rate. We had a little surprise in the morning, though, with a $38 valet parking fee. We only had our car back at the hotel since we had to bring back a bunch of items from the wedding & no one informed my husband that the parking fee was $38 when he asked about valet. I explained this to the lady manager in the AM and she was extremely helpful and took it off of our invoice, especially since we were literally just sleeping in the room, woke up, and left. I could not have nicer things to say!

I've been doing business in Center City for years & consequently, have been in quite a few very nice hotels in this area. I keep returning to the Latham. I do so because the location can't be beat, & like other CC establishments can drop off my car right in front of the hotel with minimal hassle. Their rooms are somewhat smallish & are soothing, nicely appointed & clean. (Btw, speak directly with the front desk to see if you can get a room with a view - many reveal terrific vistas of the city.) The Latham, after it's needed recent renovation, offers a lovely bar & restaurant - one where you'd be pleased to meet clients, friends, family. The wait staff was pleasant & the food was prepared with care & imagination. There's a new off-the-lobby lounge: a perfect, low key place to land in between my meetings. But for me, and here's The Swing Vote, the Doorman, Joe, is superb. Been @ the Latham over 30, or is it 40? years. Easy to get along with, highly knowledgeable about all things Philadelphia & you aren't just Another Face in the Crowd. What a concept. I've seen him extend this remarkable effort to the other Latham guests - and to their & my guests, as well (!), year upon year. Joe keeps an eye out for your personal security & possessions, how you are, what you need, & as mentioned is a font of information on everything ala Philly - all without being obsequious or fawning. What a pleasure. Throw in the newly available, & I do mean available --- not-the -always-out-on-another-call-&-not-available limo service (driver retired police officer, a delight) & I will continue to book @ the Latham.

Room Tip: Speak directly with the front desk to see if you can book a room with a nice view.
