“Lovely view, walk to major Philly sights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

This beautiful hotel is located right on the Delaware River (ask for a river-view room) removed from the center of the city, but within a 5-minute walk to the Old City and Society Hill (great restaurants, bars, and old-town houses, etc.). Also only about a 15-minute, very scenic walk to Independence Mall and all the major Philly sites. Don't miss the Irish Memorial and Scottish Memorial just across Columbus Blvd -- beautiful park and magnificent sculpture. Hop on/hop off bus tour (90-minutes) will pick you up at this hotel's front door (with pre-arrangment via phone call). Hotel staff is excellent; hotel has a good restaurant and bar & grill, including outdoor seating on the river. What's missing? Breakfast is NOT included and neither is WiFi. Haven't had to pay extra for WiFi in about a decade -- this seems way behind the times!
Other than that -- we had a lovely 4-day stay and would return.

Room Tip: We paid just a bit (about $7) extra for a corner room which had a river AND a city view. Lovely.

The Good:
1. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
2. We arrived very early and they were kind enough to let us check in early. Our reservation included free breakfast and we were allowed to eat breakfast on the day we arrived!
3. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed a wonderful water view of the Delaware river.
4. When they realized we were celebrating my husband's birthday, they surprised us with complementary champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a birthday card!
5. We saw a fantastic fireworks show from the comfort of our room!
6. Room service is fast and the food is delicious.
7. They allowed us to check out late and we were greatly appreciative.

The Bad:
1. The room showed signs of wear with scuff marks on the walls, doors, and furniture. Also, there seem to be a lot of dust on the furniture. However, the room was comfortable, clean (for the most part), and quiet.
2. On our second day in the room, we left out at 9:30 a.m. and cameback at 2:30 p.m. The room had not been cleaned. We called housekeeping and they arrived at 2:50 p.m. Later that night, we discovered that we didn't have a bath mat.
3. If you are walking, the location is far from shopping, restaurants, and historical sites. However, if you're attending Penn's Landing events, the hotel location is perfect.

Overall, the good outweighed the bad and we would definitely stay here again!

Was here for 3 nights on business over a weekend and was very pleased with the experience. My room was large with a great view of Ben Franklin bridge. The bathroom was large with plenty of good quality towels. The location is OK - it is about a 10-15 minute walk to the historic centre. This would be the only downside to the hotel as there are very few restaurants or bars nearby. The pool was good and I was the only one swimming there on Sunday afternoon. All staff gave great service from check-in, concierge, bell desk and bar/restaurant staff.

This was our first venture out without the kids. We had tickets to see a concert at the Camden Center. The hotel is at a premium location. Ferry right outside the building, with direct access to attractions in Camden. We had a waterfront king, as recommended by someone else on trip advisor. The view was absolutely amazing. We loved the walking bridges that allowed easy access to the historical attractions in Philly.

(Expect to pay for parking) But was surprised that you could take some tours in Philly that were free. Oh course we hit the really cool gift shop for the kids. Then we found a small souvenir shop that was a little more reasonable. We felt safe for the most part in Philly, occasionally we came across a homeless person sleeping, I guess to be expected in a large city. On the Camden side, the waterfront was a beautiful area and felt very safe.

Would definitely come back with the kids!

Room Tip: Choose waterfront view, and on a higher floor.

Very impressed by recent four night, through weekend, stay. Music festival across the river same weekend so ferry access drew us here. Everything I asked for was received, corner room with river view as well as city. Self parking that I had found on-line, even though I booked direct, was included when requested with the website and date info.

Splurged on room service breakfast each day. Fruit was fresh, beautiful and delicious. Kept it simple to cereals or pastries but all were great and plentiful. Decaf and regular coffee were hot, as ordered, and plenty for each of us. Presented on time and with care.

King bed and other furnishings comfy. Would return for location if ferry access was required to Camden.

My family and I stayed here recently and it was a wonderful trip. It is located in an area called Penn's Landing which is right on the water (Delaware River I think??). There's a really cool WW1 ship and a WW2 submarine that you can tour if you go after 5 pm ($10 before 5 pm). It's a nice area and right across the street, you can walk on a cobblestone street and be near the old historical area in just a few minutes walking distance. The concierge was excellent and gave us tips about seeing the city. He also had great information about visiting Amish country which was 2 hours away.

There's a decent pool and a basic fitness room with dumbells and cardio machines.

The views from the rooms are really nice, looking out on the water, bridges and lots of ships.

Room Tip: I'd recommend a high floor for the view.

This hotel was very nice and I would stay here again. Great view with very nice rooms. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Great fitness room as is the case with most Hyatt Hotels. I see others stating it was to far to the independence mall but I disagree. Very walkable and we did all the time with no problem. Great wi fi internet.Since I should be honest I gave four stars and not five for some little things but worth mentioning.1. Very poor water pressure in the showers 2. The television is flat panel but no HD and no HDMI jacks to hook the laptop to the television which is quite odd for a Hyatt Regency as nice as this one. 3. Very limited access to drinks. If you want water or diet soda they have machines on each floor. However none in the automated gift shop and no access to non carbonated drinks like Snapple, Sobe, or Vitamin Water anywhere. If you want any of these you better bring them along.4. I have to agree with others that the restaurant does have very poor service. Hard to figure out why.
