Stayed there last week while for business in Temple University. It was pretty close. Staff were nice (not so used to that in Philly). The elevators were really stinky, and the room needed some refurbishing. Hotel is old in general. Breakfast was fine, just the normal HI-express breakfast

The location is easy and convenient to get to. Only minor things that can be addressed easily: the room lamps need to be replaced (a makeshift adapter for different light bulbs with exposed wires), the WiFi signals not uniform throughout the property and finally not enough electrical sockets in the room.

KEEP ROOM CARD KEY after check-out if you leave luggage with the bellhop. They will come in handy if you need to use the washrooms on street level.

Room Tip: Avoid room x01 and x02 for its proximity to the elevators.

Everyone we met - front desk, housekeeping, garage parking staff- was very polite and friendly to talk to. The hot breakfast was excellent. We were visiting for the Philadelphia flower show so the location was perfect. Only 2 blocks from the convention center. Many places to eat and drink nearby. We went to 2 of the restaurants that the front desk recommended and were pleasantly surprised how good the food was.

I made the mistake of staying here! They charge you $25.00 a day just to park and then you have to wait a long time to get your car back! I found pubic hairs in the "clean" bed, in the shower,on the ceiling of the bathroom and behind the door. I had a better stay at a MOTEL 6. There's no place to unload or load your luggage and the front desk staff act like they're doing you a favor by waiting on you. I didn't even get a receipt when I checked out. All they said was "OK". Forget the breakfast! It was lousy but thankfully there was an I.H.O.P. across the street that was CLEAN and the wait staff friendly! I already reported this place to Intercontinental Hotel Group. By the way, King Kong stays here too, I heard him all night in the room above me.

Room Tip: Stay Somewhere else

Stayed the weekend at the HIE in downtown Philadelphia. Parking garage left a lot to be desired. First, there was no place to unload luggage, so we had to travel to the 2nd floor and haul it downstairs in a tiny elevator that needed renovation. At the entrance, we were bowled over by bug spray. Check in was marred slightly because our room was not ready but staff recovered well. Room was nice but bed was uncomfortable and pillows were chintz. View was dismal as we looked directly at a 30 story tenement with red doorways.

Sleeping was hard. Got past the pillows and matress but couldn't conquer the Philly drunks. At 3 am, some of them invaded the hallwyas waking us up with boast of being "real men". This happened largely due to the lack of soundproofing. The windows are no better since it appears that all the bars on Walnut Street must empty at the same time and then the horns started beeping and the partygoers broadcasted their best imitations of Rocky Balboa's "Yo". And we heard it all perfectly despite being on the 15th floor.

TV's were recently upgraded, leaving no digital channels to watch.

Breakfast was nice with good selection and checkout was efficient.

All in all the place could be much nicer but it would take a major overhaul of the walls, windows, etc.

Room Tip: Find a hotel closer to where you'd like to go. This one is not far from the convention center bu...

Thank you for being so candid. We have reviewed your comments with the management of the Patriot Parking garage. I apologize that you did not have a comfortable night and were bothered by the noise of others. In the future, for any noise in the hallways, please place a call to security and they are always prepared to deal with guest disturbances. We recently upgraded the television programming to HD and apologize that you experienced problems during that time.

Growing Pains

This HIE is in a great location, has staff that are knowledgable, and good accommodations, still I can’t rate it as highly as I would other HIEs. For example, I requested a refrigerator in my room and 4 hours later the staff brought in a grimy fridge that I had to clean before I could put anything in it, much less touch it. I mentioned this to the staff at check out, and she promised to speak to the manager about it. I forgot all about it until I checked my credit card later at home and saw the hotel had adjusted my final bill with a credit. I definitely appreciated the gesture, however, I have become accustomed to HIEs getting things right the first time.

I would stay here again, but I would also call ahead and check if my request for a fridge would be honored.

TIP:
Be sure to visit the restaurant Sampan, right around the corner. Great tasting menu.

My fellow club member and I spent the weekend there and it was mostly a positive experience. The room size was a nice size and clean. All of the furnishings looked up-to-date and in working order. The bathroom was rather small and there is no bathroom fan, but it was clean with the towels also clean and neatly folded. The bed pillows were a little more light and pliable than what I would prefer, but the mattress was good. The hotel was mostly quiet and there was only a few moments of noise from upstairs neighbors (kids running, jumping and bumping about). The complimentary breakfast was reasonably varied and adequate (pancakes, bagels, sausage, eggs, cereal, doughnuts, etc.). The taco-shaped egg and cheese omelettes were under re-heated. The orange, apple, and lemonade juice machines could never seem to mix the right amount of syrup for drinks (either too watery or too syrupy). All of the hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Parking is a bit pricey.

Room Tip: Room 1207 has an unblocked and decent view.
