“Wonderful little B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I stayed here recently and fell in love with the place! The house and rooms are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. There are also some great extras, such as a wine and cheese reception and constant coffee and snacks. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of the old city, plus it felt really safe walking around at night. The staff are friendly and willing to help you out with anything you could need. I didn't have a single complaint. I would recommend this place, and definitely stay again if I come back to Philli.

“Great location and history, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I stayed here with my husband for a little getaway weekend in November. The location was great, right across from City Tavern which I highly recommend at least for drinks just to check out the historic building and have the experience (more on that in a different review). The regular inn keepers were on vacation but the visiting keeper Gail was awesome. She was very helpful and most importantly personable. I hate staying somewhere and dealing with a stuffy hostess. She gave us a tour and answered all my questions about the life of a traveling inn keeper. I think that may be my second career later in life! We stayed in the Thomas Bond Sr room which we loved. We had plenty of room, a very nice fireplace and a jet tub that wasn't even advertised! There is a thriving nightlife outside even in November but that did not bother us at all as we were on the 3rd floor and we like sleeping with the TV on. We will definitely be back. The wine and cheese reception is a very nice touch even though as other reviewers have pointed out that its not really a top notch selection. It is just nice to relax and mingle with the other guests. Breakfast both mornings was just OK (apple french toast and quiche) but the service was very nice. And hey - its included with the price of the room so expectations may need to be modified. Oh and the bed was very comfortable!! The TV didn't offer many channels and was pretty small but if we wanted to watch TV we would stay home and watch our big screen.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the Thomas Bond Sr (3rd floor) or Thomas Bond Jr (2nd floor).

“Quaint, homey stay in downtown Philly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

A wonderful little inn with a terrific location. I'm not one for crowds in the city and despise driving in high traffic. This was a great way to see the sights and experiences of downtown Philly without needing to get in the car and drive everywhere. The staff was very welcoming, and the house was decorated very nicely for Christmas. There is a plaza just beside the house that could easily be noisy in the warmer months, but in early December it made for a nice spot to quietly step outside and relax. Lots of locations to very easily walk to, and the historic nature of the inn were the top benefits in my opinion. I would definitely recommend making this a top choice for anyone wanting to see the historic district and downtown area of Philly.

Room Tip: Small, clean rooms. There was not a lot of extra room for luggage, and the hallways were a bit narr...

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Quaint guest house with characterful but small and noisy rooms. Most of the staff are charming, BUT beware of the manageress! Following an administrative error, her pugnacious attitude spoilt our stay. (See other similar criticisms).

“Lovely and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The Thomas Bond House is located right in the heart of the Old City and the house itself is lovely - Built in the 1700's; the house is decorated in the period; yet with updated plumbing and electricity. The rooms are small but cozy. The staff is sweet and hospitable. We didn't think the food, breakfast, wine and cheese, was really on par with what we expect from B&B's but, hey - the B&B is in the middle of multiple restaurants, pubs and pizza counters so I imagine that's just not necessary. Our best meal "at the house" was the slices of pizza and beer we took to our room late one night...but we loved the views and the vibe of Thomas Bond House and would happily stay there again.
