“Prime Experience in Philadelphia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Had dinner this week at Barclay Prime in Center City Philadelphia. Went with one other couple. Service in this high-end restaurant was terrific and the food was of superior quality. Expensive, but worth it for the complete experience. Great for a special occasion.

“Bloody expensive, but oh SO good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I came here with business (thank goodness). Service was a little 'in your face', but then I'm British so quite reserved when it comes to fine eateries.
I had oysters to start, which were quite small (you get far better at loch fyne in Winchester, uk) and colleagues had beet salad and tuna which were tasty. We ordered steak for mains...
This is the first time I've been offered a selection of knives to choose from (designed by ninja knife throwers/folded 16 times to the quality of a samurai sword/made by German sword makers - I went for German: wow!). Then the teaks came. I went for Ribeye and was overwhelmed by the chunk of beef sitting in front of me. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, but was a little salty. The sides (brocolli rape, whipped potato & sautéed mushrooms) were served family style to share and we're also amazing. Married with a great Malbec I was an extremely happy man.
Would definitely, definitely return! Incredible place in a lovely area of the city

“Use to be a Great Steakhouse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I was deeply disappointed. They no longer carry their bone-in-rib-eye. It was one of their signature steaks. When a steak house starts to cut their product, it is not a good sign. Bread, we were served one popover a piece. I have to say, they are past their prime as a restaurant. Otherwise, a complaint I have with many "atmosphere restaurants", turn up the lights. I am there to have dinner with my wife and or friends. I would like to see them. I would like to see the food I am eating. STOP MAKING THE PLACES SO DARK YOU CAN NOT SEE ACROSS THE TABLE.
