“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

I'm cheap, so I like free things, but $45 for the 30 minute ride let us see the sights, get great local insight, and hit both kids and adults at a good level of info. We didn't go with the first driver we met. Hold out for one you mesh with

“Fun experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

I, my wife and 2 grandkids took the 30 minute tour of Olde Town and Society Hill. It was a lot of fun. The guide was a very experienced horse handler. The carriage was new and tour was well done. The only improvement I could suggest would be to have a mike on the guide and speakers in the carriage, because as you may imagine, the driver often time is speaking 'forward' and you sit behind the driver, so hearing the tour can be challenging.

“History made fun for kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

A visit to Philadelphia on a perfect weather day was fantastic when we decided to start the day with an hour long horse and buggy tour through Philly. What a great decision...this tour was chock full of storiies of how people lived, about the architecture, and even about current events iin Philadelphia. The two teens and two adults in our group could not say more complimentary things about the tour driver. The carriage was clean and well operating, and the driver was knowledgable and interested in his work! We highly recommend this fun way to see the city.

“A treat for a sunny afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We decided to take the horse and carriage ride as a treat for my two nephews (aged 3 and 6). The carriage seats were quite high off the ground so we had to place a firm arm around the kids to make sure they did not fall out.

It was a fixed cost of $35 (excluding tip) for a 20 minute ride, and wasn't based on number of passengers. Payment was directly to the driver after the ride.

The lady driver gave commentary on the historical significance of the sights we passed. It was sometimes hard to hear her because of the traffic noise. At one point a fire engine came up behind with its siren wailing, which scared the horse and we had to stop.

It was a pleasant ride on a sunny afternoon and we all enjoyed it very much. Recommended.

“Interesting carriage ride. Good fun for the money.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

A horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic area of Philadelphia (Independence Mall, Society Hill, Old City) is quite enjoyable and rather informative. A knowledgeable guide can put many historic sites and their relationships into context much faster than can be accomplished by the ignorant tourist afoot. Plus, you get a very different perspective of the area sitting much higher above street level than in an automobile. On top of that, it's just fun to ride through a 21st century city in a horse-drawn carriage.

Our driver was knowledgeable and interested in making sure we had an enjoyable experience. Since he had to control the the horse and drive the carriage, at times hearing his descriptions of the sights was difficult, especially when automobiles were nearby in traffic. However, he never objected to repeating himself when asked.
