The Morris House Hotel combines the hominess and ambience of a bed-and-breakfast with the privacy and service of a typical hotel. Our room was comfortable, roomy and quiet. The complimentary tea, coffee and cookies available each evening were greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine prior to dinner. Starting our day off with a delicious breakfast eaten by a warm fire was just what the doctor ordered.

We will definitely be going back.

We recently booked four rooms for two nights at Morris House Hotel, two in the main building and two in the carriage house. The hotel is small and charming. If you're walking down 8th Street, the hotel's courtyard looks like a secret garden tucked behind the wrought iron gate. The weather was too cold to sit outside, but our local family members have enjoyed many a glass of wine there in the warmer months. The owners decorated the hotel with period decor and preserved much of its original charm, including fireplaces and floorboards. More practical information: the beds are very comfortable, the showers are hot, and if you need a first floor room, Morris has one in the carriage house that my aunt enjoyed very much. I can't speak highly enough about the people at Morris House and the talent of their chef at next-door M Restaurant. If you're looking for a quiet and welcoming enclave in the heart of Philadelphia, you will adore Morris House.

We stayed at the Morris House Hotel mainly because of its proximity to Pennsylvania Hospital where my husband was having surgery. We reserved the extended suite over the restaurant on the street side.The suite was very roomy with nice seating in the living room, small kitchen setup in the living room, a very comfortable bedroom with wonderfully comfortable bed and nice linens, and a large bathroom. The first night we ate at the M Restaurant below our room-definitely a fabulously creative and delicious restaurant. Second night my sisters stayed with me and there was plenty of room for the three of us. Very much like an apartment in the city. The main house is lovely and historic with wonderful ambiance and our building-not as old. Breakfast choices in the lovely library and parlor were nice and the cookies and hot drinks during the day are an added nice touch. All staff we encountered were very friendly, professional and gave suggestions that were helpful.
Only one suggestion-the bathroom needs some updating. Although clean, the shower and bathtub in particular need updating. All in all a great location and would definitely stay again.

This Hotel is just wonderful! It is one of the most charming places I have ever stayed; quiet, beautiful and in one of the best spots in Philly. I can't say enough about the staff, the breakfast, and the beautiful library which is a lovely breakfast spot with yummy pastries and great coffee. Being close to the Reading Terminal Market and the lovely Washington Square area, in addition to all of the historic landmarks, allows one to walk in many different directions.
