“Best Weekend Ever 7-28-12”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

To experience the Morris House Hotel is to experience a small part of paradise.Upon entering through the historic door one is transported back in time to a colonial Philadelphia. The furniture, pictures and books that adorn the various rooms create a peaceful feeling for any visitor. The service was warm and inviting and their attention to detail was impeccable. The food preparation and presentation, while dining in the courtyard, added to the magic of the moment. After all the photos were snapped, the microphone unplugged and the guests sent home it was time to end the day in a cozy, comfortable bed that was just a staircase away. As the father of the bride, I just want to offer a heart felt THANK-YOU to all the staff members who helped to create lasting memories for my family. My advice for anyone that is looking for the perfect wedding venue is that you need to look no farther than the Morris House Hotel. It was a FIRST CLASS experience all the way!

"location, location, location"

My sister and me stayed here just because it was located in the historic district but found it to be the best of our stay on our 5 city tour of Historic America.

The Hotel room (2nd floor #204) was lovely and very comfortable for 2 with a beautiful view of the courtyard. The bedding was soft and plush. The morning complimentary breakfast was absolutely wonderful. It was 2 blocks from Independence hall with lots of restaurants and shopping close by. A must repeat for me and next time with the grand kids.

Thank you Morris House staff for a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: There are no elevators so the walk to the 3rd floor could be a hindrance for the elderly. The staff...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the Morris House. It is beautifully renovated and loaded with charm and history. Our suite was lovely and in good taste. The breakfast was very European in style and delicious - charcuterie and cheddar cheese, egg souffle, pastries and breads. Would definitely return for another visit and have already recommended the hotel to friends. Location can't be beat - Society Hill.

My wife and I stayed at Morris House for our first wedding anniversary, and this past weekend we returned to celebrate our fifth. We love location in Society Hill--to arrive we take Amtrak, the subway, and finish with an easy walk to the hotel; from there we stay on foot and explore all of center city. We love the history of the building itself, and decor of the rooms, and especially the quiet courtyard. We've enjoyed breakfast conversations with fellow travelers from all over the world! Suffice to say, this is a favorite spot of ours.

Room Tip: We love the rooms in carriage house. Quieter and more privacy.

My husband and I wanted to escape for a romantic few days in Phillie. We chose this hotel for its quaintness and authenticity. We were not disappointed!! Centrally located and walkable to Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Washington Sq Park, City Center, Society Hill and Penn's Landing. Yet it was quaint and quiet and very well run. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a beautifully furnished room that we absolutely loved. Very comfy bed, plush pillows, lounge sofa with period furniture (desk), even a fireplace and mantel. It even had a HD TV strategically positioned. Our only complaint, which is no fault of the hotel, was that we could hear the vibrations from the subway underground. We enjoyed a fabulous 4-course meal at the M Restaurant that is next door and shares the brick courtyard where we dined al fresco. It was a memorable meal and the chef chose excellent combinations. I highly recommend anyone looking for a romantic, small and centrally located quaint hotel to stay here.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a room on the higher floors so you don't feel the vibrations of the subway.

Took our granddaughter to Philly for a little historical education wrapped in fun. I loved the look on this bright, eight year old, 21st computer century kid's face as she entered this hotel and stepped back a few centuries. She was enthralled. We had a wonderful time in this clean, well appointed hotel that is so close to all things of interest in the historic district. Suite 203 was perfect for us having just the right amount of space and sleeping arrangements. The bath amenities were great and the suite had a view of the beautiful courtyard.

Room Tip: See comments about 203.

We spent one night at the Morris House Hotel while in town for a college orientation with our daughter. We enjoyed the atmosphere of this beautiful old colonial building and the outdoor space. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we enjoyed breakfast in the lovely library.
We were on the 3rd floor and didn't experience the loud noise from the trains that I read in other reviews. Staying at the Morris House Hotel was a great alternative to staying out on City Ave in a chain hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors if you are concerned about noise from the trains below the buildi...
