This restaurant was panned by our city newspaper food critic, so with many other choices for steak and seafood in town, I had crossed Ocean Prime off my list. Last week I had an opportunity to try it out for a business dinner and was pleasantly surprised. I chose the basics. The French onion soup with brandy and aged swiss cheese was a solid notch above the usual. The strip steak, with nothing on it but salt and pepper, was very good, if not exceptional. Prices were comparable with peer restaurants in Philadelphia. Portions were generous. The layout of the restaurant is conducive to conversation, which for me is a plus. I'll put Ocean Prime on the local steakhouse rotation.
