“On the edge”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2009

This is the 6th Homewood Suites we've stayed over last 3 yrs. HS are always a good deal but this one ranks the lowest of the 6. Dirty carpets, loud A/C unit in room closet?? Parking lot down the street ? Perfunctory staff (except for "Bett",breakfast hostess). Had to "share" pool with Hilton, that's a first. On the edge of a very rough neighbourhood, no evening walks for us.

This hotel was nice ,but it could update a few things. The king size bed had a pillowtop mattress with a mattress topper on it and was fairly comfortable, however nothing compared to the mattress's in the Hampton Hotel in Center City which were so comfortable. They could use new carpeting. The carpeting was so worn in spots. The pull out sleeper sofa had no sheets we had to call the front desk for clean sheets ,which they brought up within 5 minutes of asking for the sheets. We had advance reservations for 4 people so they should have known to have sheets ready for the sleeper sofa.It had a nice little kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher and a table for 2 to sit and eat at. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and pots. The room was very clean ,no dust or grime in the corners anywhere in the room. The had parking down the street in a lot for 5 dollars or valet parking for 10 dollars .I used the 5 dollar parking which you could leave and come back as much as you wanted for 5 dollars a day provided you went to the front desk and had them stamp the card for you.The only drawback to the parking were the geese accross the street in the reservoir. You had to really watch where you were walking beacuse there were goose droppings all over the sidewalks and street. They had a free breakfast which was ok again I liked the Hampton Inn for their breakfast. They had a welcome Home Dinner every Monday-Thursday nite which i didn't get to try beacuse i was out at the times they had it.They had no brochures in the hotel about Philadelphia which i had to get at a visitor's center in Center City.I would stay at this hotel again but i hope they upgrade soon.

The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was big and clean. We had breakfast and dinner included. We got the Philly overnight deal and well worth the week stay. We used the pool attached to Hilton and parking was no issue right out front. It was convenient to Sesame Place and downtown Philly.

This is our first stay at a Homewood Suites. We typically stay at either Hampton or Embassy properties but after reading the reviews we decided to give Homewood a try. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. The suites are large and comfortable including a small kitchenette. It was an easy 10 minute drive to the historic district. The staff was the most friendly we have ever encountered at a hotel. They are willing to help in whatever way possible.
The only down side to this hotel is that the parking is close to a block away and the beds are not up to par with the other Hilton properties. My husband and I prefer the cozier rooms of the Hampton for just the two of us, however, if I had children I would stay at this hotel again.
This hotel is connected to a Hilton hotel where you will find fitness room, pool and 2 restaurants. We ate at the lounge which was more affordable than Delmonico's steak house and the food was good.

We were pleasantly surprised by our spacious suite, with king bed and kitchenette. We didn't realize breakfast and dinner (on weeknights) were included in the rate. The included meals make the place a great value, particularly for families. The breakfast was substantial and tasty, with many choices on offer. We particularly appreciated the friendly, knowledgeable staff, who directed us to good local restaurants, gave good sightseeing recommendations, and helped us navigate public transit to downtown Philadelphia.

I've stayed here on numerous occasions in the past year and continue to believe it's the best business hotel choice in Philadelphia.

The location is convenient; tucked behind a Hilton on a quiet street and within walking distance of numerous restaurants, a Saks, large Target and a decent supermarket. It's about 10 minutes by car from downtown Philadelphia and yet also close to the freeways that head out to the large corporate campuses west of the city.

Each suite comes with a basic kitchen (no oven, but everything else you might need), free internet access (wired, no wireless) and - importantly for us business travelers - an enormous desk. The toiletries are Neutrogena. There's breakfast and dinner on weeknights, and a little store with grocery supplies (some frozen meals, sodas, milk, cheese etc) in the lobby. Self parking is $5.

The staff at this location are incredible; very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. They really make the hotel a nice place to be.

You have access to the Hilton's gym, which has brand new equipment, and there's also a little indoor pool (best suited for kids as it's too small to swim laps).

The only downside of this hotel is that it books up really quickly and - when there are big events on in Philly - it can be really expensive.

We are a family of 5 so we try to find suites when we travel. We previously stayed at Embassy Suites in Philadelphia and were so disappointed we knew we had to find something else. We read the trip advisor ratings and decided to try this homewood suites.

We had an excellent overall experience. We stayed in their huge 2 bedroom suite. This included a full kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The hotel building appears to be not new but a rehab. with rooms updated.

there is a business center but the pool and exercise room are next door in the adjoining hilton.

The breakfast was nicely done with continental items plus waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage.

The evening reception was a great surprise. they had what could be an entire meal and most were eating it as such. We like to dine in Litlle Italy, but it was hard not to eat at Homewood. They had spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread, rolls and salad bar one night and philly cheesesteaks with salad bar the other. This also came with all the beer and wine you could drink. The hotel was booked the days we stayed there, but we never had a problem getting a table. the staff was excellent in keeping tables clean and food replenished.

The staff were so efficient and friendly, all of them, from housekeeping to the front desk staff.

There is only 1 $5.00 charge put on your bill for the entire stay. You are not charged for leaving and returning to the lot.

The only negative thing at this property were stained carpets in rooms and common areas. They should invest in a good carpet cleaner.
