This is one of our favorite restaurants in Philly, where service is exceptional & the food is stellar! It is a landmark in Philly & every taxi driver knows it, so getting there is not a problem.

Whoever wrote that 1 star review either must have expected this restaurant to be Applebee's or they must have gone on a VERY bad night.
I just got back from La Famiglia and I couldn't wait to write this review. My partner and I are true foodies and we couldn't have been happier with the food and service at this fine establishment.
It DID take a little longer between courses, but that's because this ISN'T Applebee's and the waiters want to give you time to figure out what you want, and to enjoy your courses and your wine. And speaking of wine, this restaurant has a KILLER wine list. We asked to see the wine list and they brought us a HUGE book. We ended up asking the maitre'd to help us choose a wine and he picked us a delicious Sangiovese that went perfectly with our Carpaccio, Homemade Lump Crab Meat stuffed Ravioli, and Filet Mignon in a Berry Reduction Sauce. I would have had the rack of lamb but, again, not being Applebee's, they actually run out of things.
This restaurant is worth your time, worth your money, and worth your visit. If you're coming to Philadelphia and you like Italian food that isn't from a chain restaurant, PLEASE come here.
I've had the good fortune of eating at this fine establishment several times over the years. Simply outstanding. The gnocchi melts in your mouth. The rack of lamb is superb. And Giuseppe always chooses the perfect wine to go with whatever it is we order. I never had a bad experience. It's a shame I now live on the other side of the world. I always look forward to going home to see my friends at La Famiglia.
We had 8pm reservations and we seated at 8:20pm. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and our meal. Our appetizers were served. Two of the people ordered a shimp dish as an appetizer and it was terrible!! By 9:30pm our dinner had still not arrived. We were told it would be out in five minutes. Needless to say it was not even out in 10 minutes. We asked for our check for what we had drank and eaten up to that point and left.
Bad service, the food we had (shrimp) was terrible. We were not the only ones complaining either. Would never recommend this restaurant. There are too many fine restaurants in the city to waste your time at this one.
My wife, daughter and I had dinner there last weekend for the first time and had a very enjoyable evening. Our friend's recommendation was right on target. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food....we'll add it to our list of spots to return to over the next few years while our daughter attends college in Philly.....
