“Convienient and Good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This restaurant is right aross the street from Eastern State Penitentiary. We stopped here for lunch after visiting the prison. The food was delicious and you can't beat the atmosphere. It was Fall so the big fire department doors were open and you could people watch while still sitting inside. It was a lovely place and I'd go back again if I was in the area.

“I love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

I live out of town and visit Philly about once a year. And everytime I do I go to Jacks. They have amazing ambiance especially if you go around 6 just before the dinner rush. They have great music, soft lighting, and a great bar. During the summer months I love to sit outside. The service is fast and friendly and I love their apple salad and pulled pork. But the best are their specials. They always have something different like venicine and in the summer watermelon gazpacho or a great fish dish. But my favorite thing about Jacks are the bartenders: Matty and Dean. Great guys! Never to busy (they are very busy!) to stop and chat with you to see how life is going. They are really great and make you feel right at home. Even though I only have a few days a year in Philly I always go back here again and again because it just feels good being there.

“Atmospheric--right across from Eastern State Penitentiary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Good food, but the setting (an old firehouse) was most exciting and interesting. Good place for lunch if you are touring Eastern State Penitentiary--right across the street.

“The Bee's Knees!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

This place is fantastic! Stopped in here for dinner with a party of seven and the place was very accommodating for last minute, no reservations dining (including a small child). They have great local beers on draft and their BBQ appetizer is a good starter. I had the Chicken with Bacon Mac & Cheese and Mushroom sauce (made with local Philly Mushrooms). The ambiance is really cool, with this place being a former firehouse (with the authentic firehouse pole, etc.). Rustic interior and friendly wait staff. I could spend a significant amount of time in this place if I had the time. Go here, you won't be disappointed.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Awesome atmosphere, good service and high quality food. From brunch, lunch to dinner, this place is a winner. I recommend the brunch and the butter cake. I've been here a number of times as well as had their catering. I also recommend this place for drinks. The bartenders are very friendly! I just wish they'd get some Blue Moon!
