“Great food by the prison!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012 via mobile

I went here with someone on a hunch and was beyond impressed! The decoration is minimal, but it doesn't need much thanks to excellent woodwork. As for the menu, it is short and on the high end. We both ordered the steak-frites - so delicious! For an extra special touch, they serve the fries in a mini deep-fryer. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The 48 bus stops right in front of it.

“Return visit finds nice change”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

Had dinner at Rembrandt's last night...sat outside...weather was warm, but comfortable breeze. Hadn't been there in a while, the food had been so-so. But...they have had a change in menu that puts them back on my list. Fried chicken with tuffle-oil mac n cheese...very nice...will be back to try some more.

“Poor food and service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

We have been going to Rembrandt's for about a year. When this place is one, it is fantastic. When it isn't, it is usually okay. Last night, it fell in the category , well words can not describe the comedy of errors. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Then we sat. At the half hour we complained because nobody had even approached the table to say hello or get a drink order. Finally a gentleman offered to get us drinks, he came back for the order 10 minutes later and the drinks arrived in another 15. Okay at an hour in, the waitress finally arrives to take the order. She is very apologetic. 30 minutes later, no food. Gentleman apologizes and comes out with our main course, not the appetizers. Two of the four are incorrect and the fries seemed to be from yesterday, limp and soggy. Mind you, the fries are one of the reasons we go to Rembrandt in the first place. The replacement bun comes to the table 10 minutes later. This is just a bun. They offer to comp one of the burgers and to bring the appetizers after the main course. Okay, they arrive after the meal. Simple three dip dish late, chips are soggy and limp. 10 minutes later, the second half. We ask again. Then the bill arrives with the appetizers and the first round of drinks removed. No apology, just "we are doing you a favor". My response...hmmm. I plan to return to talk with the owner about the experience. She was on the floor bussing tables. From now on, we do burgers down the street. This is not the first time they have failed while the neighborhood has an event. In fact, it seems to be a regular cycle. We who live in Fairmount, promote for the local businesses and some deliver, while others disappoint. If an owner is on the floor during a crash and burn and can not even take the time to greet each table and see how they are, well, maybe they are in the wrong business. We say, time for a new place.....
