A few years ago I was standing outside Isgro's waiting for my daughter to finish picking up the 12 dozen cannoli the family ordered and I kept seeing people walking by me carrying plastic bags of bread. I finally got up the nerve to ask one where this bakery was and was pleased to discover that it was a short walk from Isgro's.
Where I live we had a legendary bakery called Prioli's (I'd sell my soul for a Prioli's roll). Sarcone's comes very close to replicating the rolls and Italian bread of my beloved Prioli's. There's something exquisite about great bread, isn't there, and Sarcone's makes great bread.
As other reviewers have noted, this bread is fresh. If you're buying it on Friday, don't plan on eating it on Sunday unless you have a quart of coffee to dunk it into first. I've had the pizza and it's very good, the crust naturally is fantastic, but I've found it's very hit and miss. That may be because I'm usually there during busy times.
At any rate, this is a top shelf bakery that knows a thing or two about making good bread.
