Owner description: The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest collections of nineteenth- and twentieth-century French painting in the world. An extraordinary number of masterpieces by Renoir, Cezanne and Matisse provide a depth of work by these artists that is unavailable elsewhere. Established as an educational institution, the Barnes carries out its mission teaching classes in its galleries and Arboretum.

Wonderful replication of the original museum. Wonderful display of 'balanced' art. The doc3nts added a great deal of incite. Don't miss the video on the life of Dr. Barnes.

“Great place to relax at the Barnes”

Had lunch here recently (soup and quiche) and it was excellent. Not inexpensive, very nice atmosphere. Hightly recommended.

“incredible art collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

I love that Barnes bought what he liked rather than what the critics said he should like. Amazing works by Renoir, Cezanne, Picasso et. al. along with metal works. He seemed to like hinges and old tools also. They provide an audio tour via iPod at no additional cost. One pompous docent was rather snooty when I accidentally crossed the line in front of the art. It's a Philly must see.

An amazing exhibit. Really liked the I-touch 'tour' that is included in the admission price. Lower cost street parking was available on Saturday. Lunch at Whole Foods, across the street, worked out well.

“The Best Collection of Renoirs anywhere in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Go if you like post-impression art. Learning about Dr. Barnes and his fascinating collection is well worth the time. I'm glad they moved this collection into Philadelphia. The collection is displayed exactly the way it was in Dr. Barnes' home in the suburbs. It's just more convenient now and will be shared by more people.
