An extraordinary number of masterpieces by Renoir, Cezanne and Matisse provide a depth of work by these artists that is unavailable elsewhere. “Absolutely Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

If you love Impressionist paintings, this is a MUST VISIT! There are 181 Reniors here. Yes, I did say that,. It is so impressive to see these masterpieces in this elegant setting. The building is beautiful and the galleries are lovely. If you are visiting New York City, I definitely would recommend taking a day trip to Philadelphia to see this museum. It is a good idea to buy timed tickets in advance to avoid crowds and lines in season.

“A gem in Philadelphia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

Having read about the Barnes we did a day trip from New York by train. What a wonderful experience ! A beautiful building with the most impressive art collection. The layout of the gallery is very easy to navigate . The number of visitors is controlled and makes for an enjoyable visit. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant afterwards and would recommend it very highly.

“Still Impressive ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

As a regular visitor at the original Barnes Foundation in Merion, Pa.,
I finally went to the Parkway. Surrounded by controversy; it still is, all about the art. A must for Renoir lovers, an eclectic showing of masterpieces, and an all out WOW.
Don't miss it!
Remember to book online and be prepared to wait in line.
It's worth it.

“A must see if you are in Philadelphia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

If you have seen the documentary, The Art of the Steal, you will be very interested in seeing this collection in its new location. I was lucky enough to have gone to the original home as well. The new location is wonderful showcase for an incredible collection.

“We Finally Got to the Barnes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

I lived three miles from the original Barnes Foundation gallery for most of my adult life and never visited. As a journalist, I reported and edited countless stories about the controversies surrounding the Barnes. We moved to the Chesapeake several years ago and watched the building of the new gallery on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway from afar. We reserved tickets for a visit in 2012, but that was the weekend Super Storm Sandy was on her way so we canceled and headed home. This year, we finally made it and we are so glad we did. I am still on Art Overload. The shear numbers are overwhelming. To start, there are 181 Renoirs in the collection. Works by Matisse, Cezanne, VanGogh, Gauguin, Modigliani and Picasso are everywhere. We spent almost three hours in the gallery and just scratched the surface. We need to make the Barnes a regular stop on our visits to Philadelphia.
