“Great piece of Americana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

I'm delighted the locals, officials, and the NPS were able to get together and stop the destruction of historical and significant buildings in downtown Philly. The park is great, the top three historical spots all in one area. There's plenty of grass to just sit and appreciate the area and the best visitors center nearby. Makes one proud to e an American.

“History made easy and at it's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

Go! It is easy to see and learn all you want or not. This is a well set up history lesson that all Americans should visit. We saw people from all over the world learning about our heritage. The national park service has done a great job and it costs little or nothing. Do it!!

“Well-Planned Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

At one end of the large pedestrian mall is the National Constitution Center and at the other end is Independence Hall. In between is the Visitor's Center (where you get your free, timed tickets to Independence Hall, can see films, and go to the restroom) and the Liberty Bell (tickets not required). We went on Flag Day (also the birthday of the Army) and were thrilled to see skydivers with flags trailing behind them. The Army had vehicles and weapons on display and were allowing people to climb on and in them. Expect crowds. We recommend eating at the Reading Terminal market just behind the Market Street metro station.

“Don't miss outdoor exhibits on the Mall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Basically, the Mall is a lawn of grass, but it does enable a majestic view of Independence Hall from the National Constitution Center. In the Spring, the wisteria is really beautiful. Not much else to say, except there are a couple of outdoor exhibits on the mall, across the street from the National Constitution Center. One is titled "The Dirty Business of Slavery" -- an apt reminder that so visitors do not forget America's sins of the past.

One day of the year they put up the Betsy Ross flag...on Flag Day. Lots of people dressed in custume, quite a surprise to have parachuters jump out of sky!!
