“Wonderful small hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

My husband and I just returned from this sweet, clean, charming boutique hotel in a wonderful area of Philadelphia. The room was small and somewhat dark, but very clean and comfortable. Good bed and good linens. The staff was very accomodating. It felt more like a European hotel than an American one. It was very pleasant. We would certainly return, unless we were more in the mood for a place with a gym, restaurant , etc. The breakfast was fine, better than many continental breakfasts that hotels serve.

great location near Rittenhouse square, a close walk to the city center, many good restaurants close-by. Pleasant staff, room was quiet and very comfortable. We got a good rate thru the "jetsetter" website. We enjoyed our stay so much, we stayed an extra night. We took a taxi from the airport for less than $40, there is a parking lot right across the street but I heard the rates were pricey.

Perfect Location!, perfect small, "Boutique" hotel! Our room was absolutely PERFECT for the week we were in the city. The shower was amazing - the water temperature got so hot, it created a sauna in the shower area and the Molton Brown amenities made it a spa like experience! I did have to ask the housekeeper to change our sheets as I did find what looked like dried crusted boogers on the sheets when I pulled them down to go to sleep ... but, since we were drunk, I didn't care too much at the time and was willing to just leave a note for the housekeeper to change them in the morning, which she did. I would DEFINITELY stay here again....boogers and all.

My husband and I were planning an overnight getaway to Philly in December and I managed to find a great deal on this Boutique Hotel! It was WONDERFUL. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was upgraded to a suite with a fireplace and a beautiful bathroom with rain shower. I liked the code system for the doors so you didn't have to worry about carrying around a key with you. The location right near Rittenhouse Square was perfect. And complimentary breakfast the next morning was convenient and delicious. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a quaint, romantic place to stay in Philly.

We decided to try it for a couple of nights while we were at Winterthur, and the reviews looked promising. We arrived fairly late and the room was all set for us, clean, attractive, and with quite a contemporary bathroom. The room was quiet, and the service friendly and efficient, without being officious. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate, and had fresh fruit and good cereals and breads, as well as yogurts etc. if that was not enough, they full cooked breakfast for additional charge.
But the people running the place really made it special. We asked about a wine bar or something in the area, and he asked a few questions and then suggested a specialty beer bar not far away, which was a highlife of the trip! Wish we had one that good in Boston. They turned us on to a couple of different places and directions to a couple of out of the way places while we were there.

We would definitely go back, although the place is a bit pricy.

Found this by happy accident and will come here again. The staff is extremely helpful. There is a nice breakfast for free with the option of ordering off their menu if you prefer. Rooms are comfortable. We stayed in a standard room and couldn't ask for anything better. We are next already planning our next visit here.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be of good value. Ask for lowest price.

I stayed at the Rittenhouse 1715 in November. Being from the greater Philadelphia area, I was well aware of the general location and was pleased with the check in process. I would gladly accept the $18 garage price tag a couple of blocks away versus $50 a night for valet at any other larger Philly hotel. Check out was also easy. Got the car out of the garage in under 10 minutes, pulled up to the hotel and loaded the bags.

The room, 309, was large and very nice. A few issues could be addressed to make the room perfect (i.e.- electric face plates not fully attached, small stains on rug), but it was fine for a night. The bed was very comfortable. I had no problems with TV service. Only major issue with this room was the noise outside of the window. The windows aren't sound-proofed, so when the trash service came to retrieve dumpsters at 7am, you were waking up regardless of your plans.

Breakfast was definitely disappointing. Don't stay here for this option. Pick up some coffee or teas and enjoy some toast with the delish jam....but, then go out for a nicer breakfast. The Marathon is about a block and a half away and it is cheap and very good.

I was thoroughly impressed with the service. Excellent throughout the stay. The front desk representative escorted me to the room and answered any questions. Night staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Staff at the cafe was also very kind and helpful. I was pleased/

I would recommend this hotel. Definitely check the hotel website for deals versus the larger sites like Expedia.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at 1715! And, thank you for complimenting our service- we appreciate service and it's our mission to be the best stewards we can be everyday. The face plates are now fully attached- thank you for noticing and reporting to our attention. As for the stains in the carpet, we made an error and allowed bleach on our housekeeping floor which we immediately discontinued. As we're not perfect, we made an imperfect decision that damaged our fine carpets. That said, we're in the process of replacing the carpet as we speak and the room will be back to being it's potential! As for our break the fast, we put so much joy and heart in our food experience. We bring in the finest breads and pastries from the cities finest bakeries in every morning. And, our cooked breakfast features items such as our croissant french toast. Lastly, we've created a fresh juice bar the only of of it's kind in any hotel in Philadelphia- I truly believe the breakfast at 1715 is a high quality experience.
