We checked in for a two night stay at the Rittenhouse and were happily surprised when we found out we had been upgraded to the Presidential suite. This suite was spectacular- two storeys, 1.5 bathrooms, big living room with flat screen TV and a faux fireplace. It also had a mini fridge to store your own drinks and snacks as well as a round table a few people could sit at for breakfast or use as a desk. The room was nicely decorated but small things, such as chipped paint and peeling grout, were in need of some TLC. The room was also extremely loud. I could hear the people in the room next to us cough during the night and hear every word of their conversation. Obviously, in old buildings, these things are to be expected but what was a little disappointing was the service. We asked for an extra towel (because there are only 2 small towels in the room) and they literally asked if we had already received our 2 for the day from the housekeeper. When we said we would like an extra, it was like we were asking for a free night's stay. They made a big fuss. The free breakfast also consists of bread and jam, some bananas if you're lucky. Overall, a good hotel but definitely not 5 stars.
