“Budget Friendly - served its purpose!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2010

Chose this hotel because of price and distance from convention center while attending a event at the convention center. Total in room 2 adults and 2 teenagers normal size room. Friendly staff very helpful. Gym is 24 hours, free breakfast was perfect and the woman working the breakfast is a hard working making sure everything is filled and clean. Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate all day every day. The free wi-fi was also a great service and we used it on the ipods and laptops during our stay.

Didnt use the pool but from the outside it didnt look that clean and the hallways could be a little cleaner but then again it could have been the hundreds of teenagers staying in the hotel. Our rooms were clean, older tv but it didnt matter to us.
It is minutes away from the convention center which we walked to and from plenty times throughout the day and night. Within minutes of restuarants also - we parked the car and didnt move it until we left. I felt safe walking the streets but the teenagers did not want to walk alone. There is a mens homeless shelter on the block leading to the convention center and they were waiting outside most of the time.
We valet parked for $20 a day and after our late checkout of 1pm we left the car there until 6pm for an additional $5
Overall a pleasant stay.

I attended a conference in the area and found this hotel to be a good value. It's easy to take the train from the airport to about 2 blocks from the hotel. They have free internet and a good, free breakfast with waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. Their business center is only 2 computers but it has free printing. The rooms are a little dated but clean and comfortable.

The hotel is minutes from some good restaurants and the Reading Terminal. It's just off a main street so it's a little dark at night but still very safe. If you have a budget this is a great value for the location.

Hotel is clean and the breakfast is very good (free). I have no complaints, this is a no frills hotel in Center City Philadelphia.

This is my third stay at this Hampton Inn and I'll be going back next week for another conference near the convention center. The hotel is consistently good and meets my business travel needs.

Everything was clean and well kept up. The staff at the front desk checked me in quickly and the breakfast staff was friendly and kept everything well stocked. The housekeeping staff all greeted us as we walked in the hallways and were friendly. This time I went back to my room shortly after it was cleaned. When I walked back out the housekeeping staff person who cleaned my room asked if everything was as clean as I expected and if I needed anything.

I had a lot of work to do this trip and the wireless worked well and the coffee was well stocked in the dining room.

I found out on this visit that Chinatown is two blocks from the hotel on Race St. Very convenient. We ate at David's which had good Chinese food.

I'm not excited about parking in a separate lot across the street from the hotel that is owned by another company but it works. Parking is $20 which is slightly less than at the other conference hotels in the area.

Very good free breakfast with varieties. Room is not big but same as other big city hotel I stayed. Staffs are friendly and they provide you with bagged breakfast if you are running in a hurry. Close to I-95. You can walk to the center city. Chinatown, Reading Market, City Hall and Market Street are all just a couple of blocks away. It only just took me 20 minutes to walk across the town to the Independence Hall visitor center.

Cons-
1. Convention center across the street is undergoing new construction and it could be loud in the early morning if your room is facing south;
2. Heading east towards Chinatown and convention center on Race street, there's a St John's Hospice and we noticed there were usually people standing around the small locked door, smoking and blocking the narrow side walk. Nothing suspicious but just be aware if you will walk this way with children that can hear their language.
3. The valet parking half block away is very crowded with cars closely parked in front of others. Not very convenient if you need to be in and out frequently.

Other than these, it's a very good and convenient spot. Try the nearby Chinese restaurant and bakery or anything in the Reading Terminal Market.

We stayed for 4 days, on a combined conference/vacation trip. At checkin, we discovered that they did not have the queen bed we reserved, only 2 doubles. Our room looked directly into an open construction site directly across the street, which was ugly and also noisy beginning at about 6 AM. There was room for only one suitcase on the provided shelf--no luggage stand. There was no ventilation in the bathroom. On the plus side, it is close to the convention center and within walking distance of many of the historical Philadelphia attractions. The staff was friendly, the rooms were acceptably clean. These are small things, but make for a less than optimal stay.

I did not plan on making this trip with my wife but she pleaded with me saying that she had a king bed and we would have a very restful stay. Upon arrival we were very disappointed to learn that the only rooms available were 2 twin beds even though we had made a reservation months ago. We were given the basic "take it or leave it" with no apoligies offered. Of course with a convention in town we had to accept it. Other than the poor service from the front desk the maid staff went out of their way to wish us a good morning every time we saw them. The rooms were first rate with very comfortable beds and quiet carpeted hallways.
