“One night - ok, not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Spent one night while in town to see a baseball game. The hotel was ok - there was no wow factor though. Staff were very nice. Parking and other items were pricey, but probably inline for downtown Philly. I did find the hotel to be very quiet for a weekend and in a busy city - so that was a plus.

The Westin Philadelphia has the standard Westin look. The lobby is small and when there are events the people overflow from the bar to the lobby obstructing the elevators but aside from that the rooms are large and comfortable. Room service food was a tad below good but also standard. The hotel is well located next to Chestnut and Walnut Streets and only a few blocks to Rittenhouse Square.

Went to Philadelphia for a short weekend break. Have stayed at a Westin in Dallas, which was the best hotel experience I have ever had in terms of comfort, sleep wise. Westin beds and linens are very good quality as far as hotels go, and they have a reputation for this. So, we paid extra, compared to other hotels on offer in the area. Overall, it lacked what I had previously experienced. The room was small, a bit dull and dusty. The website gives you options for rooms, like 'Deluxe', 'Superior' and 'Grand', when actually they just mean a basic room with all the amenities. There was no curtain or blind to shut out the morning light, which I prefer when traveling, just a blind to filter the light. The coffee/tea bar could have been better stocked, and as I said, everything had a layer of dust on it. I think the hotel needs to redecorate front he dull grey fashion of the 2000's and brighten up, but that is just cosmetic. The linen was not as luxurious as I had previously experienced, and there was some sort of plastic underneath which did make me feel as though I was sleeping on a hospital bed. The proximity of this hotel to local sights was great, and it is quiet. Hotel staff very friendly and checkout was easy.

This Westin is in a great location, the staff we encountered were nice and the hotel is generally nice. I had 2 problems with my stay. First of all, the sheets were so rough that they made a sound any time one person moved. The fitted sheet kept coming off while sleeping and I kept waking to find myself laying directly on the mattress. Part of the sheet was incredibly wrinkled and, due to the extreme stiffness of the sheets, it made that part particularly rough to the touch. My major problem with this stay though is the air conditioner. It was at the lowest setting and still didn't not reach a comfortable sleeping temperature. My family slept uncovered because it was the only way we could sleep. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who doesn't need a cool temperature for sleeping. If, however, you are like our family, you will struggle to sleep.

Thank you for staying at The Westin Philadelphia!

I personally would like to apologize for the temperature in your guestroom. Over the past week, we have experienced unseasonably warm weather.

As a result, our housekeeping staff has been turning down the airconditioner to a lower temperature in preparation of our guests arrival.

Again, thank you for the feedback and we hope to see you on your next trip to Philadelphia.

Be well,

We were just here for a one night but it was a great stay, and good service, nice people. It is a good location in town and we walked everywhere we wanted to go - The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, City Hall, the hop-on-off us stop, etc. The rooms were comfortable and ,there were soft robes, which you don't see that often anymore! The bar tender was great too! Posh bar, can see it being happening at night. Plenty of great breakfast places nearby.

Westin is a comfortable upscale property with a good central location, within easy walking to public transportation (SEPTA) & tour bus access (PHASH and Big Bus) to local attractions.

Westin's best Philadelphia asset, in my opinion, is their incredible concierge, Geraldine "Gerry" down at the concierge desk. Professional, knowledgeable, courteous, bubbly and fun, this delightful woman became a fantastic resource to help schedule several days of intensive sightseeing, always mindful of my wish to walk and take public transportation rather than spend a lot of money on rental cars or cab fairs. She had a huge credenza full of well-organized brochures, with seemingly everything a tourist could possibly want to know, right on hand--- For a typical day exploring Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the colonial historical museums, she had great recommendations on how to time visits to avoid long lines. For a day out to Warminster to see relatives, she pulled a pre-printed train schedule up immediately. For visits to the PMA, Barnes and Rodin museum, she helped us pace things out so we'd have more time to enjoy the art. When I wanted to check out the Wanamaker Organ at Macy's, she had the concert times within minutes.

Since it was a very busy weekend at the hotel, we heard her work with a wide variety of guests on things like tour options, dining, used book stores, walking times, boat tours, kid-friendly attractions, good values, etc. She always took time to focus on each customer, listening carefully to see what folks were interested in, then tailoring options just for them.

So, whether you stay at the Westin for one packed day or a long relaxed stay, start your plans with Gerry. She'll get you where you need to go.
