“Staying here makes visiting Philadelphia simple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2011

Plan ahead and the rates are good. We had two rooms to start with, a 'superior' for my mother-in-law and a 'suite' for us. After a couple of nights we combined rooms - if you don't have a huge need for privacy the large room with the sofa bed is PLENTY big enough for 2 + 1. This place just makes things easy. The location is good, it feels safe, you can walk to so many places and catch transportation to others. Easy to be there without a car - an extra $23 per night to park across the street. We were there during heavy graduation/wedding time and the whole hotel felt festive. We especially appreciated the in-room fridge and microwave for leftovers and simple breakfasts.

Room Tip: Ask the staff. They are very helpful.

I have stayed in a few Club Quarters...in San Francisco and New York City Financial District...and they offer "ship shape" rooms and some great amenities like the "living room" lobbies where you can chill out and self-fill water bottles on all the floors.

The Philly location was great, in a charming historic building right downtown within walking distance to Rittenhouse Square area, shopping streets, and all attractions. Lots of great restaurants nearby—even a great Italian restaurant attached!

I'm not thrilled with the $35 early check-in fee they implemented, but I guess if you want to check in early, you'll pay the fee, but it feels chintzy. Staying at Club Quarters in London in a couple weeks, so I'll review that, too!

My husband joined me on a business trip and this was one of the "special rate" accommodations for the conference. The lobby was very nice but the rooms were VERY small. You checked in on a kiosk but there were usually two desk agents there...so we wondered why all the "self-service" if they are paying to have clerks. Anyway, the service was spotty (had to call twice for a luggage rack) even with the desk agents and the elevator wasn't working properly so more than once I took the seven floors down by stairs. The nifty free bottled water machine earned the hotel points as it was about 100 degrees in Philly for two days of our stay. Overall, we weren't unhappy with the hotel, but we weren't impressed either. A decent, affordable place in a great location.

Room Tip: Upgrade on certain nights to a suite for $25

I have no complaints about this hotel itself - the staff were helpful, rooms were clean and adequate, and the location is excellent right downtown. We were upgraded from a regular room to a suite, which was very spacious. Not fancy, but everything was clean and just what you would expect in an average hotel. Wifi in the rooms was free and worked well, which was great.

Parking was around the block in a private lot and was a discounted rate of about $20 a day. While this seems like a lot, it was actually cheaper than the posted rates I saw at many of the hotels nearby. Just what you pay downtown I guess. There was no in and out privileges on the parking either, which wasn't a big deal for us because we didn't use the car that much while we were there but if you're planning to drive a lot you will have to park on the street once you bring your car out for the day. It's very easy to get around walking or taking the occasional bus though.

The big downside to this hotel was the noise at night. I don't know if it was the location of the room (which was on a corner on a lower floor) or because it was a weekend, but there was a lot of noise from the street below that made it very difficult to sleep well. At night it was people going to bars and in the morning (very early!) it was garbage trucks and car horns. Perhaps this is just what happens when you stay in a place that is so centrally located, but we wished that the windows were a bit more soundproof or that we were on a quieter street! The hotel itself was very good though and a great deal, so just make sure you ask for a quiet room.

The 2nd floor lobby provides security for solo travelers like myself. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small but well-appointed (with flatscreen TV and a great shower). When nosy neighbors threatened my peace and quiet, staff dealt with them and moved me to another room. The location was a 10 minute walk to the Conference Center. There are plenty of restaurants and stores in walking distance. The restaurant on premises served an excellent dinner, too. I'll be back!

I really liked this hotel: it was easy to check in, easy to check out. The room was small, but very nicely appointed and clean. I really liked how quiet the hotel was: I feel like I've been at a lot of hotels recently where people tromp through the halls and talk loudly at all hours of the night. I had to travel to the suburbs overnight for a party, and then planned to go back into Philadelphia for sightseeing. The front desk people let me check my bag with them for several hours free of charge! Very nice of them.
