For those of you who like to search for hours online or ask around via word of mouth to be absolutely, positively, certain you will get the best value and experience at a hotel before you commit to booking it, this is the one.
If you're looking for a sign, this is your sign: Hotel Palomar.
I know most people instantly shy away when they see dollar signs, weary of spending money when you can never be sure what you'll get, but if you want to go all out, you can definitely trust Palomar. You will not want to leave, but when you do, you will leave happy knowing your money was WELL spent, not wasted.
From the moment my friend and I arrived and they held the door for us as we walked in till the moment we left, we had the ideal experience. Check in was quick and easy. No wait, and everyone at the desk was professional, welcoming and accommodating. A pleasurable experience, literally right from the start.
As many other reviewers have mentioned, the King Spa is truly worth the experience. Having that bathroom and sinking into that tub is like having the spa treatment, but right in the privacy of your own personal hotel room. Photos do not do this hotel or the experience justice. Everything is about quality. From the chic modern decor, to the toiletries and every amenity you could want. Palomar does not skimp out in any area .
Our room had a beautiful view, which was especially pretty at night when you with all the pretty lights of the city. When you're ready to turn in for the night, the thick curtains sufficiently block all that out too.
Also very quiet. I read so many reviews about people who go to a CITY, and complain about noise. You're in a city, there's going to be noise. It's part of the experience. However, I can honestly say, we didn't hear anything in our room (but we were all the way up on the 20th floor so, that probably helped).
Palomar is in an ideal location no matter where you want to go. It's right around the corner from the boutique shops and cafes in Rittenhouse Square. Or, Macy's, Conventions, Reading Terminal and Chinatown are all just a few blocks away. A couple more blocks away you can get to Historic Society Hill and Penns Landing or, the famous Rocky Steps and Museums on the Parkway. Whatever your fancy. At Palomar, you're close by.
I am SURE to return again, and I am looking forward to booking at Hotel Palomar Philadelphia next time I visit and look forward to more Kimpton stays in other cities in the future as well.
For anyone who is new or unfamiliar with Kimpton Hotels, be sure to sign up to be a Kimpton InTouch member. It's FREE, and you do not have to stay a half dozen times to get perks. This was my very 1st stay and I the perks started right away:
- FREE in room WiFi access ($13 a day for non-members)
- Complimentary $10 credit for the bar or minibar (EVERY visit)
- Discounted upgrades (when available)
The Numbers, for those interested: We originally booked a King Spa room for $250 which was before taxes/fees etc. In the end, after taxes/fees AND the upgrade to a deluxe suite on a higher floor, the total, all taxes/fees included was still under $300
Note: If you have AAA, use it for even more discounts at Kimpton hotel properties. I know Palomar Philadelphia accepts it.
Any King Spa, well worth the little extra you pay for it. And higher floors are good.
