Just returned from a three night stay. First, I want to compliment the hotel staff - especially the front desk, the bar tender and the parking valets. They were all a delight to deal with and they helped make our stay in Philly great. As far as the hotel itself - my review is more mixed. It is new and it does have the potential to be outstanding, but there are definitely some kinks to be worked out and some changes that need to be made.
First, I must mention some of the really good points about the hotel: the beds are amazingly comfortable and the whole place gives off a fun, European-style vibe. And, as I said, above, the staff is gracious and truly seem to want to take care of their guests.
But, now, the less than top rate: the hotel seems to skimp on some basics. For example, there is only one bar of soap in the room. That's one bar of soap to share between the shower and the sink (not an optimal arrangement when one guest is in the shower and the other wants to wash her hands!). Sure, they'd bring you another one, but why should a guest have to request and additional bar of soap?? Also, in the small rooms (which we got initially, probably because we used Hotwire to book our room), there is only one chair, which is a desk chair. If two people want to sit down, one is on the bed and the other is on this counter-height chair. It just felt skimpy.
When we spoke to the desk staff about the chair issue, they very kindly offered us another room, a suite, in fact. The issue there (which the hotel staff is well aware of) is that the suite is handicapped accessible and the shower, which has a rather short curtain, totally floods the bathroom. Then, the water does not go down the drain in the bathroom floor, because floor is not sloped properly. Again, everyone tried to be accommodating and Housekeeping brought us lots of towels to mop the floor, but this is definitely one of those kinks that needs to be worked out before I could give the hotel an excellent rating.
However, all things considered, I think that it's a lovely hotel, with a terrific staff and I would certainly consider staying there again.
