“A Piece of History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

1st let me help you - there is really no signage differentiating the two lines you will see here. The first line is to a plexiglass window where you can briefly try to view the Liberty Bell and I say try as you must try to look around the visitors who waited on the the other line to go inside the building and see the bell closer. This second line is much longer, but you do get to see some historical artifacts in addition to the Liberty bell itself. I must say that I thought the bell itself was smaller in person than I imagined, but quite unique. You can take pictures of the bell though naturally the biggest crowd is trying to take pictures of the front of the bell where the crack is, which incidentally is NOT viewable from the plexiglass line

“nice, informative but if the line is long...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

It was quite interesting to read about the bell, there was a short film also telling about the bell and the influence it had on people during the years.
Still, can't say it worth standing in line for more than 15 minutes.

“A great place to spend a day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Well, you might have to spend two days, but if you start early and finish late, you probably could fit in all of the major American History sites in a one day period. This is because the area is really compact. Colonial Philadelphia was a small place. All of the town's major buildings were located within a short walking distance of each other. My advice is to come early to get your tickets for Independence Hall (better yet, reserve them online before you get there). Then get over to the line for the Liberty Bell, because that line won't do anything but get longer as the day wears on. In between visits, there are plenty of retail businesses and restaurants nearby.

Parking is easy. There's a garage right under the visitors center. It's a little pricey, but having your car nearby at the end of the day is worth it.

So much wonderful history and architecture. Walk all around and enjoy a sit in the parks and take in all the views.

The park rangers and staff are very friendly and the presentation in the Old Congress chambers were very well done. Hats off to the ranger who gave it.
