We did an art weekend in Philadelphia recently, and I can't say enough about the PMOA, especially in comparison to the nearby new venue, the Barnes Foundation.
I found a better overview of Impressionist painting -- which was the focus of this visit -- at PMOA, even though the Barnes seems to get all the press and raves. PMOA has fewer but, in my opinion, better examples of a wider range of painters and styles -- unlike the Barnes' focus on Renoir, Cezanne a a few others. And the paintings in PMOA are displayed in a very viewer friendly manner -- unlike the Barnes' cluttered approach.
