“The whole history of the cultures of the world!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

My father and I went to this museum on a day trip to Philadelphia. We went on Museum Day Live! so it was free for us. This museum has so many different cultures housed in it. I remember for instance the Native American culture having many different artifacts such as bowls, pots, and clothing. There were even replicas of and actual human body parts. It tells about the history of people. I remember some of the cultures being the Americas, Caanan& Israel, and Ancient Egypt. In the Ancient Egypt exhibit, there was what appeared to be a sphinx, as well as very large collumns. I am definitely coming back again!!

“A Hidden Gem of a Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Right across from Franklin Field, the museum has a great collection. Close to Mutter Museum too if you are headed there.

“Excellent Mayan 2012 Lords of Time Exhibit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Penn's new Mayan 2012 Lords of Time exhibit was really well put together in an interesting, informative and debunking fashion. Instead of long text displays, there were kiosks w/experts on each area giving question-focused discussions on all of the key 2012 issues. The exhibits showed how the Mayan calendar and language are constructed in a clear and accessible fashion one-by-one destroyed all of the current stories about the end of the world. Not to destroy the punch line, but even the Mayans don't believe it. The "end of their calendar" is merely the latest 400 year cycle, which they use like our centuries. The world didn't end in 1612, 1212, 0812...it's not going to end this year. Great exhibit. Get passes on line JIC it's crowded.

“Great University Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Penn's archeology program has excavated some of the most famous sites in the world and this museum, though small, shows some of those discoveries. It is pretty amazing to think this is a museum created by a University.

“Does a flat $21 parking rate fulfill Museum mission?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

We had wanted to visit but the sheer cheek of the parking demand put paid to that. There is no conceivable reason that a two-hour visit should cost the same as all-day parking. With area congestion, there are no other options.
