“Always a good time on South”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Always something to see and do on South Street. Great bar and food choices. Lots in interesting shops. Make sure to check out Magic Gardens. I promise, you will never see anything like it again.

“Visual Overload”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

South Street is always an experience no matter what time of year and what time of day you go. A trip to Jim's Steaks is a must!

“Not what I remember”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

It's great to explore the shops ("adult") but it gets old easily and there's not much going on. Too many other areas of Philly to explore than here.

“Funky, eccentric and fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Oftentimes I end up going here to show visitors a more "colorful" side of Philadelphia. Lots of vintage shops and some noteworthy sex shops like Condom Kingdom that are always a good laugh and helpful if you need a gift for a bachelorette party. Also the go-to place to shop for Halloween costumes. Added benefit: nightlife is reliably happening here as there are plenty of bars and such, and Jim's Steaks is at 4th and South which is the best place in the city for cheesesteaks (yes, better than Pat's or Geno's are far more accessible). When you get closer to the 2nd / Front area it gets a bit quieter and you run into Henhouse Square which is incredibly charming and has some great restaurants, e.g., Tamarind (Thai BYO) and Xochitl (Modern Mexican). Enjoy!

“"Where do all the hippies meet . . . South Street, South Street"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I like the mix of people on South Street - mostly younger, but different races & classes. And I enjoy the stores and shopping nearby. It always feels like a boost emotionally to be there.
