I chose this hotel from a selection offered for a conference because I wanted to try a Hilton Garden Inn, the close proximity to the convention center, the price and the Tripadvisor reviews. From the outside, the hotel appears a little sketchy -- the neighborhood next to the hotel screams "take urban caution." I was definitely uncomfortable walking back to the hotel alone at night via Market Street. But, it is one block from the convention center, Chinatown and the Reading Terminal Market. And, I encountered no problems.
However, go inside and you will find a hotel that goes the extra steps to please. Staff were upbeat, friendly and welcoming. The hotel room was above average -- beds with a matress that can be custom set to a soft/hardness setting, nice comforter, a flat screen TV, microwave, mini frig, and free wireless. There was a little bit of mildew on the tub caulking that should have taken care of but otherwise the hotel room was quite nice.
The staff -- my TV suddenly went dark and apparently died. Maintenance staff showed up quickly, assessed the situation, and took great pains to bring up a brand new flat screen (still in the box) and get it working. Wow! The wait staff on the 10th floor made breakfast a delight, as did the chef who made great omlettes. Front desk staff worked hard to do as much as possible.
Going the extra distance made the difference. If I need to attend a conference at this venue again, I would choose this hotel again.

This was the second time we stayed in this hotel. One time we booked it based on location for $150 per night and through Priceline we won this room for this trip for only $75 per night.
My husband and I have friends in Philadelphia so we like to visit and stay in Center City since it close to so many great restaurants and other attractions.
Room was spacious and clean, and the beds are like sleeping on clouds. The Customer Service is also very excellent.
In-Room dining gets a A+++ from us.
Also a must do at this hotel is take a quick trip to the Reading Terminal Market right next door for some ambience and eating.

We booked a last minute one night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Philadelphia through priceline for a super cheap price of $64. What a great deal!!! Everything was terrific from check in to check out. Initially, they were going to put my boyfriend and I in a room with two double beds, but I requested a king bed if possible. The girl at the desk explained they had no king rooms available, but she would be more than happy to upgrade us to a junior suite with a king bed free of charge. The room was really nice and very clean. We had a sofa, coffee table, chair and an ottoman in a separate sitting area. We also had a very comfortable sleep number bed with a 36'' flatscreen TV in fron of it. The bedding was very modern and new unlike some of the bedding shown for this hotel on this website. We also had a large desk, microwave, and refrigerator. The bathroom was nice, but not anything special. The staff was super friendly. Who could forget the AMAZING location. Easy to public transportation, food, and pretty much in the center of everything! There were three VERY small downsides during our stay which are hardly even worth mention. The first was the view into the ugly parking garage from our window, but who can complain when you pay a dirt cheap price for a great hotel. The next was that our room lacked a TV romote but by the time we realized it, it was 1 AM. I'm sure the staff would ave gladly replaced it had we asked. Lastly, the handle to the hot water in the bathroom broke off in my hand, but it was easily fixible by twisting it back on. Overall, the hotel was fantastic and I would definitely stay there again!

We came to Philly to see the King Tut exhibit (which was great), but I wish we had stayed someplace else. The parking garage was deceiving and we thought we were parking in someone else's lot because there was no sign for the Hilton. It took several trips around the block for my friend to even find it. Check-in took forever, but the concierge was extremely helpful and even got us a map and told us the best ways to get around. The biggest problem for me was when we first opened the door to our room and got a wiff of an overwhelming stench. It was the air conditioner which was spewing out rancid, moldy air. It was then a choice to either deal with it or open the windows and endure the noisy, hot August night. We didn't want to have to endure another long wait for a room, so we just dealt with it.
On the plus side, the location was good, and was walking distance to almost everything, but the bus station in front of the hotel yielded some shady characters. There was one guy who thought that everyone walking by would enjoy being yelled at while he banged something metal against a pole. (I wonder if there's an institution nearby)? The Wawa across the street from the station had the closest ATM, and I was shocked when I didn't get mugged. Our last night there, the only restaurant in the hotel was closed for a private party, so we walked around and found a fantastic Italian place (wish I could remember the name). We never tried the hotel breakfast because the Reading Market was right around the corner where we could get practically anything we wanted much cheaper. We must have gone back there 6 or 7 times throughout the trip. Overall the trip was fun, but the hotel wasn't......
